Zack Snyder’s Justice Leaguemovie is finally getting an official release on Blu-ray, 4K UHD, and DVD for U.S. viewers. TheJustice LeagueBlu-ray is available for preorder at Amazon with the price ranges of $50 for the 4K UHD, $40 for the Blu-ray and $30 for the DVDs.
This announcement comes from Snyder’s Twitter.Justice Leaguewas initially released in theaters in 2017 after Snyder had a family tragedy that ended withJoss Whedon taking over the project. What fans ended up getting was a lot less than desirable, to say the least. Not only was the film not well received by critics but fans also had many complaints.

Many didn’t enjoy the lighter and campier tone of Whedon’s cut because it felt out of place in the world established by Snyder in his previous filmsMan of SteelandBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Both of those films literally and figuratively had a very dark/gritty atmosphere.Justice League(2017) appeared to take heavy influence from Marvel’sAvengersfilms (which Whedon was heavily involved in the making of) as made clear by the fact that the theatrical cut ofJustice Leaguefilm had constant “jokes” or humor, a much more lighthearted tone/color scheme, and most of this resulted in inconsistent plot holes for some of the characters' individual backstories.
Whedon’sJustice Leaguegave Batman a much more “hands-off” approach in terms of combat. He was less intimidating, took the backseat, and was a lot more vulnerable in comparison to what Snyder wrote him as in the previous films. Snyder’s version was arguably the darkest portrayal of the caped crusader thus far since not only was Batman straight up killing criminals on the spot, but he also branded them so they can become targets in jail, used firearm weaponry, and even had no problem killing a Kryptonian who many saw as immortal.
Snyder’sJustice Leaguealso set up the stories of many heroes of African descent, including Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, Kiersey Clemons' Iris West, Harry Lennix’s Martian Manhunter, and Wayne T. Carr’s Green Lantern. These characters were all were slated to have much bigger roles in the following films, butWarner Bros. cut their screentime downor out altogether in the theatrical cut ofJustice League. Only time will tell what happens in the DC continuity from here on, but all is not lost.
Snyder’s cut ofJustice Leaguewas initially only available on HBO Max, so it’s good that this can now be widely accessible to the fans who don’t have the streaming service or other means of watching it. Many want to see the universe continue, but only time will tell what happens. Snyder set up a very unique and diverse world that was unprecedented in the DC lore and many would like to see it through even if it doesn’t come out the way he visualized.
Zack Snyder’s Justice Leaguewill be available on Blu-Ray and DVD on August 03, 2025.
