Following the recentXboxand Bethesda Games Showcase, it was clear to see that there are plenty of new titles on the way to Xbox and PC owners. A wave of new games landing in players' laps is nothing new for Xbox fans, as they consistently receivenew titles every month as part of Xbox Game Pass. While Game Pass shows how Xbox is consistently working to improve its service, there are some elements of Xbox’s online package that fans have found to be left behind.

Namely, classic Xbox 360 gamerpics were seen by many as a relic of Xbox’s past. While the images are remembered fondly to this day, it seemed for a while that Xbox had moved on from the old avatars. However, in recent times the platform-owner has worked to improve thequality of Xbox 360 gamerpicson newer consoles after a fan on Twitter stated that their own avatar had shrunk over the generations. Now, it seems that the older gamerpics are getting a next-gen version as well.

So far, only two of the original set of Xbox 360 gamerpics are getting remakes, as shown in a post on Reddit. It seems as well that each remade gamerpic is getting its own unique styling, as the person chewing bubblegum with a beanie has been given a new CGI look, while the old panda picture has a hand-drawn, colorful design that sees it wearing a headset and holding anXboxcontroller.

Fan reaction to the new gamerpics was somewhat mixed, as a few old Xbox 360 fans didn’t believe that the remakes fully captured the look of the original avatars. Others, however, were merely happy to see the old pictures getting some attention, and reminisced about their time with the console and what each gamerpic usually represented. The Panda was the “cool guy,” according to one comment, while the flaming skull Xbox 360 gamerpic was “usually the guy blastingLinkin Parkin his headphones.”

There hasn’t been official word on whether the other Xbox 360 gamerpics will be getting their own remasters, but fans would likely appreciate the original roster of avatars to be filled out for the Xbox Series X/S. As well as Xbox’s gamerpics being remade, some titles from the Xbox 360 era are getting remasters as well. For example, thesoft franchise reboot forDead Spacelaunches in January 2023. With old games and avatars coming back to new consoles, it seems a good time to be a nostalgic gamer right now.
