World of Warcraftis launching Fractures in Time on July 11, and one of its features involves players taking down armies from alternate timelines. WhereasEmbers of Neltharion focused on the Black Dragonflightand the legacy of Deathwing, Patch 10.1.5 instead puts the Bronze Dragonflight front and center. Through new quests at Eon’s Fringe,World of Warcraftplayers will be tasked with preserving the sanctity of the main timeline. This allows Blizzard to briefly bring back many iconic heroes and villains toWorld of Warcraftin character-defining moments, but that’s just one side of the coin.

It took a while for Blizzard to strike the right balance with the daily and world quests inWorld of Warcraft, and the developers have been chasing the right approach sinceMists of Pandaria. The Primalist invasions scattered across the zones of the Dragon Isles had a lukewarm response, but they were an excellent way to grab some gear early on.Fyrakk Assaults in Embers of Neltharionwere another attempt at providing a means to gear up through invasions, and now Fractures in Time is bringing its own flavor to the mix.

Time Rifts will pitWorld of Warcraftplayers against armies from alternate timelines of Azeroth. For example, in the version of Azeroth claimed by the Scourge, fans can expect to see Uther the Deathbringer, Banshee Queen Vereesa, and Hand of the King Thassarian leading the charge. Though the full list of variations is unknown thus far, the community speculates that the new world event will feature at least a Titan, Murloc, and Legion version as well.

The exciting thing about Time Rifts inWorld of Warcraftis that the developers have not only been given an opportunity to go crazy with established lore characters, but players can also earn currency from the event to purchasemounts for theirWorld of Warcraftstable. Though Dragonriding has supplanted the joys of regular flying, aspiring collectors will certainly want some of the new mount offerings purchasable through Paracausal Flakes, the new currency earned by completing Time Rifts. A black gryphon, fel stormdrake, and albatross mount are but a few of the standouts.

Patch 10.1.5 forWorld of Warcraftis noteworthy for one more thing: it is the first content update outside an expansion that adds a new specialization to the game. Dracthyr players will now be able tobecome Augmentation Evokerswho channel the powers of the Black Dragonflight to bolster allies in a new hybrid Support role. Though the next raid tier only launches with Patch 10.2, Fracture in Time seems to offer more than enough content to tide players over as they wait for the penultimate chapter of theirDragonflightcampaign.

World of Warcraftis available now for PC.
