A dedicatedWorld of Warcraftfan has made an Azeroth-style map of the continental United States of America. The map is a part of a larger ongoing project to recreate all 50 states asWorld of Warcraftmaps.
ConservationOfWumbo, also known as EthanolMaps, is aWorld of Warcraftplayer who has received much attention for the dozens ofClassic WoW-style maps he has made. So far, ConservationOfWumbo has completed over half of the United States of America, as well as acity map of New York City and a map ofSkyrim.

His most recent work is a continent map of the United States, much likeWorld of Warcraft’smaps of Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms. Using Photoshop to digitally recreate a Google Maps screenshot of the United States, he was able to convert the countryinto a massiveWorld of Warcraftarea, including Canada and Mexico. One version of the map even includes major US cities as towns and strongholds on the map in the same way as oldWorld of Warcraftmaps did.
So far,ConservationOfWumbo has completedWoWmaps of 28 of the 50 statesin addition to the continental USA map, meaning he is over halfway through his project. According to a sneak peek he posted in the comments of his post, more maps will be coming soon, including one of Tennessee. Prints, posters, and stickers of his various works are available for purchase on his Etsy store, where he has already sold over 1500 maps since he first began the project.
It is no surprise that ConservationOfWumbo’s work caught a great deal of attention and admiration from his fellowWorld of Warcraftfans. His newest map received over 100 comments on his posts on both the Retail andClassic World of WarcraftReddits. Fans complimented his work, drawing parallels between different states andWorld of Warcraftzones. Players even mused what level each of the 50 states would be if each wasa zone in aWorld of Warcraftexpansion.
ConservationOfWumbo is not the onlyWorld of Warcraftfan makingWoW-style maps of the world. Various nations in Europe have been created by several artists, including Nomadichedgehog, Winston-91, and Spoon, the last of which even created amap of Australia in honor ofBurning Crusade Classic’slaunch last year. Eventually, all of theseWorld of Warcraftfans will be able to put their work together to create an Azeroth-style world map of the whole planet.
