Call of Duty: Modern Warfarewas officially announced with a trailer that showed off the game’s campaign mode and revealed the October 25 release date. The trailer itself was somewhat light on details, but since its release, more information onCall of Duty: Modern Warfarehas trickled out to the public, including whether or not the game will have a Zombies mode.

Ever since Zombies was first introduced inCall of Duty: World at War, it has become a fan-favorite game mode. MostCall of Dutygames sinceWorld at Warhave featured Zombies in some capacity, with the exception ofCall of Duty: Ghostsand theModern Warfaregames. As it turns out, that trend will continue with theCall of Duty: Modern Warfarereboot, which will not have a Zombies mode.

does call of duty modern warfare have zombies

This is according toCall of Duty: Modern Warfarecampaign director Jacob Minkoff. Speaking to PlayStation Lifestyle, Minkoff explained whyCall of Duty: Modern Warfarewill not have Zombies.

“[…] we’re trying to create an authentic, realistic feeling world. We don’t have the flexibility to do something like put zombies in the game. That would compromise the feeling of playing in a world that feels realistic and authentic and relative to today’s conflicts and things we face.”

A desire to deliver a realistic experience seems to be the main reason whyCall of Duty: Modern Warfarewill not have Zombies. The game is aiming to tackle serious and controversial subjects in the campaign, which will include achild soldier mission. Featuring emotionally-charged scenes like that may be undercut by the inclusion of an arcadey Zombies mode.

WhileCall of Duty: Modern Warfarewon’t have Zombies, that doesn’t mean that the game won’t have any co-op mode at all. It would be bizarre for aCall of Dutygame to not have co-op in some form, so perhaps fans will see the return of the Spec Ops missions fromModern Warfare 2or the horde mode-like co-op fromModern Warfare 3.

Whatever elseCall of Duty: Modern Warfareis bringing to the table should be revealed sooner rather than later. That’s becauseCall of Duty: Modern Warfarewill be at E3 2019as part of an E3 Coliseum showcase event on June 11.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfarewill release on October 25 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
