US Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made history with her recentAmong UsTwitch stream, which is now one of the most-viewed streams in the history of the platform. The AOCAmong UsTwitch stream lasted for around three hours and was full of clippable moments that have been making waves online, but one moment in particular has proven to be one of the most popular with the community.
During the stream,Alexandria Ocasio-Cortezand Ilhan Omar playedAmong Uswith various Twitch streamers, including Pokimane. In one instance, AOC was the Imposter and was busy stalking Pokimane. At first, AOC was seemingly conflicted about whether or not she should kill Pokimane because she’s “so nice.” But it didn’t take long for AOC to come to the conclusion that, yes, she should kill Pokimane if she wanted to win the game.

Pokimanewas shocked when she was killed by AOC, but then stated that it was “an honor” to be killed by the US Congresswoman. It has since become one of the most-viewed and talked-about moments out of the entire AOC Twitch stream. Many aren’t used to politicians playing video games at all, let alone killing one of the world’s most-popular Twitch streamers in one.
It will be interesting to see if AOC hosts more Twitch streams in the future. This Twitch stream was a dizzying success, becoming one of themost-viewed Twitch streamsof all time, and so it would make sense for AOC to host more in future. After all, AOC is virtually unchallenged when it comes to Twitch streaming space, with other politicians mainly using the service for hosting Q&A sessions or streaming rallies instead of actually playing video games.
Twitch seems as though it’s going to be an effective tool for politicians moving forward, especially when it comes to reaching young voters. Twitch streams may very well become just as standard for politicians as town hall meetings, debates, or news interviews. Of course, politicians will have to begenuine gamers like AOCis to pull it off, as some other attempts by politicians to reach out to gamers have not been received all that well.
For example,Hillary Clintonwas widely criticized for her “Pokemon GOto the polls” line, and more recently, Joe Biden’sAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsisland has been mocked online. But as the younger generation grows up and starts winning political seats, the number of genuine gamer politicians should only grow higher.
Among Usis out now for PC and mobile devices.
