Sephiroth is probably up there with a lot of fans as their favorite villain in the series. By default, it’s kind of hard not to agree as he has appeared in the most games out of the entire pantheon of villains. FromFinal Fantasy 7sequels to spinoffs includingDissidia Final Fantasy NTandKingdom Hearts.
For fans that adore him, they are going to loveFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth. The demo showcased him being playable which may have players wondering if there is more. That won’t be spoiled in the intro, but thereis more Sephirothto indeed come. There will be spoilers in this discussion of his best lines instead.

8“Ever Since I Was A Child I Knew I Was A Special But Not Like This…Not Like This.”
Chapter 1, Mt. Nibel Reactor
Sephiroth says this line inside the Mt. Nibel reactor to Cloud. He starts to lose his mind after he sees Hojo’s human experiments and realizes he was one as well. Hojo created Sephiroth by using tissuesamples from Jenova.
This revelation sends Sephiroth down the path to kill humanity which is a bit of a leap. It will be interesting to see if Jenova will speak in the final game to reveal she was actually controlling Sephiroth the whole time to make this sudden turn make a little more sense.

7“Mother, I Have Come Again.”
There’s another great line from Sephiroth after he kills that mutant and leaves Cloud in the dust. He goes into Jenova’s chamber and greets his “mother” before ripping off the statue in front of her tank.
The imagery of the blood-like substance pouring out of this Angel statue has always been an iconic part of the originalFinal Fantasy 7. It’s done even better in this remake thanks to the improved graphics and direction of the scene.Jenova has always been a bad motherly influenceon Sephiroth from this scene onward.

6“She Can Become Those You Hate, Those Your Fear, Those You Love, And They Call Her…Jenova.”
Chapter 5, The Shinra-8 Cruise Ship
In the original game, this was the first time Cloud and the others got to see Sephiroth in the flesh in the present. It was also the first Jenova boss fight aboard the cargo ship voyage toCosta del Sol which became a cruise ship inFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
Also, Sephiroth was all overFinal Fantasy 7 Remakeand there was even a boss fight with Jenova in Shinra HQ. Regardless of those facts, this is still a threatening scene. Sephiroth is explaining the power of Jenova who can seemingly turn anyone into a monster.

5“Do Not Be Deceived, You Know The Truth, Trust In Me.”
Chapter 7, Doctor Sheiran’s Clinic In Corel
One of the greatest things aboutSephiroth’s change inFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthis that players get to see him whisper to Cloud throughout the entire game. There were some flashes in the original but it looked more like Cloud had headaches.
InFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Sephiroth is practically Emperor Palpatine whispering in Anakin’s ear. Sephiroth says this line in the doctor’s office in Corel. He’s trying to fool Cloud into thinking Tifa isn’t real, which leads to some shocking events later.

4“Your Words Can’t Reach Him Now.”
Chapter 9, Gongaga Reactor
Eventually, Cloud starts to believe Sephiroth in the Gongaga reactor. Cloud sees Tifa as an enemy and even attacks her. Had he hit, Tifa would have been done for but she falls back into the reactor instead.
This then sends her into her own memories as she sails through the Lifestream via a Weapon’s body. When she sees Cloud run away from her, she pleads him to stop which is when Sephiroth says this ominous line. Is it actually too late for Tifato help Cloud?

3“It’s Not Death, It’s A Homecoming.”
Chapter 13, Temple Of The Ancients
Sephiroth says this right after stabbing Tseng in the Temple of the Ancients. In the original game, this dungeon opens with the crew coming across an injured Tseng who would later survive to return inFinal Fantasy 7: Advent Children. This remake shows him getting smoked which is a small change but still nice to see.
This is a sentiment Sephiroth repeats until the credits roll forFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth. It’s all about bringing people back into the Lifestream to make the planet stronger through a lot of murder.

Chapter 13, Sector 1 Reactor
One of the trippiest scenes in the game happens towards the end of the Temple of the Ancients chapter. Cloud blinks and finds himself holding the bomb in Sector 1 duringFinal Fantasy 7 Remake’sevents. Barret is even there encouraging him to get the show on the road.
It was a trick to make the audience think perhaps Cloud was in another universe but instead, it was Sephiroth playing games. It’s as if Sephiroth is telling Cloud he allowed him to make friends but now the fun times are over.

1“You’ll Never See The Truth Through Clouded Eyes, After All, You’re Just A Puppet.”
Chapter 14, The Forgotten City
The most iconic scene from the PS1 classic was Sephiroth descending from the heavens and killing Aerith on the altar. Through tears, Cloud swears revenge as he cries over Aerith’s body. The line Sephiroth says after this is like icing on the morbid cake andFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthdoes a good job retooling the quote to make it fit the scene better.
What does Sephiroth mean by a “puppet?” New fans will probably have to wait and see it if that question gets answered whenever that finale comes out.
