Nintendo is celebrating Mario’s 35th Anniversary this year with the release of brand newSuper Mario-branded Monopoly and Jenga sets. The products are licensed by Hasbro, and each has their own originalMario-related spin on the classic board games.

In the Super Mario Celebration Edition ofMonopoly, players will buy, sell, and trade iconic locations from classicMariotitles, fromSuper Mario Bros' World 1-1 toSuper Mario Odyssey’s New Donk City. The twist on this classic game comes in the form of using Toad houses and Princess Peach’s castles in replacement of the typical houses and hotels, and a Question Block, the electronic component of the game, that “can change a player’s luck” when used. The board game retails for $29.99.

TheJenga: Super Mario Editiongame appears to have even more unique features to it. It involves players climbing up the tower as either Mario, Luigi, Peach, or Toad to defeat Bowser at the top. Players earn points by collecting coins as they race to the top, and are penalized by losing coins if the tower falls on their turn. The game also includes special character cards and a spinner that decides the next move.

This news comes right off of the heels of Nintendo announcinga LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System set, and other Mario-related LEGO sets. Both Hasbro games are set to release on August 1, the same day that the LEGO sets are releasing.

If these products are any indication, Nintendo seems to have big plans for Mario in 2020, with potentially more products to come for the iconic red plumber. It originally planned on their theme park, Super Nintendo World, to launch this year but unfortunately postponedit due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

There’s also been a huge rumor floating around regarding Nintendo releasinga compilation of nearly every mainline 3DMariogame. The rumor suggests that fans will be receiving ports or remasters ofSuper Mario 64,Super Mario Sunshine,Super Mario Galaxy, andSuper Mario 3D Worldfor the Nintendo Switch in 2020, as part of the iconic character’s 35th Anniversary.

The rumor also mentioned a brand newPaper Mariogame, and as we all know, that part of the rumor already turned out to be true withthe announcement ofPaper Mario: The Origami King. With that said, these Hasbro games are far from a confirmation of the rumor, but its noteworthy to mention.
