One of the most popular franchises in the fighting genre, the newly released title is the latest entry in the IP where players can experienceStreet Fighterin mobile game format. Released on February 28 as a free-to-play mobile title,Street Fighter: Duelis a collaborative effort between Capcom and Crunchyroll. It’s the first RPG in the franchise that brings the familiar cast of characters in a setup where players can “collect and upgrade a team of recognizable fighters” to battle their way through an original story. The game’s pre-registrations opened up earlier this year and already crossed a million leading up to the official release. In recent times, Capcom has turned to more collaborations, particularly when it comes to mobile games. Last November,Capcom partnered withCall of Duty MobiledeveloperTiMi Studio Group for a newMonster Huntermobile game. The latest entry in the belovedStreet Fighterseries is also a similar project that’s currently available on iOS and Android under Crunchyroll Games. According to the listing,Street Fighter: Duelis ranked as the number one game in the role-playing category in both the Apple app store and the Google Play Store. Though this ranking will likely change over time, the fact that the game managed to top the list within a day of its official release points to the franchise’s potential on mobile.

Of course, this isn’t the first mobile appearance forStreet Fighteror Capcom in general as the company has previously released titles likeStreet Fighter 4 CEon iOS and Android. Back in 2022,Street Fightereven collaborated with theKing of Fightersmobile game along with aStreet Fighter-themed skin pack DLC onMinecraft. While it remains to be seen if moreStreet Fightertitles will make it to mobile, the current popularity of the IP and Capcom’s suite of mobile games makes a case for more similar titles in the future.
