Companions are a staple of Bethesda’s RPGs, where players can often interact with, and make use of their followers and in-game friends. Whether it’s just as a pack mule, a meat shield, or an extra gun, companions are great, andStarfieldallows players to have more than one as part of their crew.
8Vasco
Vasco is automatically unlocked as a companion after the One Small Step mission, which is essential to progressing through the game’s prologue. Vasco is an adorable, yet dangerous robot, who prioritizes the protection of his crew and their ship. He has powerful punches and a laser canon on his face, which makes him a strong asset.
Make no mistake, Vasco will only see himself as that: an asset since this robot doesn’t exactly have the most riveting of personalities on his database. Vasco is still a fun character, and his computer innocence makes him a must-have.

7Rosie Tannehill
Located at The Hitching Post in Akila City, players can pick up Rosie Tannehill as part of their crew for 18,000 Credits. Considering this isn’t much to ask for, players should locate Rosie thanks to her skills, even if she is not the best at holding a weapon.
Rosie has a fun personality that players can take with them as they venture out to the stars with her, providing players with one of the unique companions inStarfield, as longas they have the Creditsto hire her. Rosie focuses on the wellbeing and care of her crew, rather than the heavy weaponry they might want, but these skills are what they do need.

6Adoring Fan
By Vectera, the Adoring Fan reunites with players inStarfieldas long as they have the Hero Worshiped Trait at the start of the game. The Adoring Fan will hunt the player down on their first venture to New Atlantis, and he is hard to avoid, and even harder to get rid of. The Adoring Fan is a great member of the crew thanks to his skills and his bubbly personality.

Although, it’s worth mentioning that the Adoring Fan’s personality is a bit much, and his worship of the player can be less ‘adoring’ and far more ‘obsessive’. It might be worth picking up the Adoring Fan for both his skills and his ego-lifting praises.
5Mathis
Some players might miss Mathis inStarfield, as this companion requires completion of the Crimson Fleet quest line on the side of the Crimson Fleet. Players alsoneed to vouch for Mathisand not snitch him out to Delgado. Mathis is a fairly competent traveling companion, and it’s nice to have someone with questionable morals on the team.
Mathis also benefits from his personality, which is often filled with a snarky level of banter. It’s fun to have a pirate companion, but to those players that enjoy a cleaner and less murderous and morally questionable route, Mathis might bebest on the Key, and away from players.

4Sarah Morgan
As the leader of Constellation, Sarah Morgan prides herself on the group of explorers, as well as her outstanding ethics and uncompromising judgment of character. Sarah Morgan is great in combat and loves to explore the stars. If the player doesn’t break any laws or make compromises with criminals, Sarah will be a great traveling companion inStarfield.
RELATED:Starfield: How To Get Married (And Divorced)
What makes Sarah one of the best companions inStarfieldis her set of skills and the fact that her personality is one of the most well-written in the game due to her importance within the story. Sarah also gains affinity with the player fairly quickly. Sarah can join players afterThe Old Neighborhood mission.
3Barrett
The dashing and daring Constellation member that started players on their path, Barrett can be recruited aftercompleting the Back to Vectera main mission. He’s one of the bravest members of Constellation out there, someone who isn’t afraid to be loud and daring when it comes to danger and interaction with the Crimson Fleet and other dangerous individuals.
Armed with his gunand a silver tongue, Barrett can try and talk or shoot his way out of every situation. However, it’s not just his abilities with a weapon and words that make him a great companion, he’s as funny as he is intelligent.

2Andreja
The most mysterious and distant of the unique Constellation companions inStarfield, Andreja keeps to herself with both her words and her mission objectives. Andreja has the most interesting story of the companions, and players should stick by her to further learn it. She specializes in combat and stealth, making her a great asset to those who want a cunning ally.
Andreja has more questionable morals than the others, so she won’t mind a kill or two. However, what does waver is the trust, so if players want to learn more about Andreja, it’s best to keep on her good side once they obtain her through theInto the Unknown quest.

1Sam Coe
To simplify; Sam Coe is a space cowboy. Who wouldn’t want to embark on a continuing mission through the galaxy with that? Sam Coe is old school, favoring metaphors, stories, and a slick personality over something more eccentric. Sam Coe can be claimed afterThe Empty Nest missionand is the perfect choice for those who enjoy a good Western tale in a sci-fi setting.
Sam Coe will oppose the rule of the United Colonies. However, that doesn’t mean Sam Coe is without ethics, as he is actually one of the most heroic characters in the game, priding his judgment above all else.

Starfieldis available now for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
