Update 05-08-2025: The nextSuper Smash Bros. UltimateDLC fighter is confirmed to beSteve fromMinecraft.
Original story follows.
2020 has been a rather quiet year in terms ofSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate. Other than revealing one DLC fighter back in June of this year, there has been next to no news regarding any future DLC fighters forSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate. However, what there has been is a lot of presumed leaks, practically all of which have been debunked. Now, the newest supposedly leaked character is fromOverwatch.
Ever since Nintendo unveiledMin MinfromARMSas the latest DLC fighter back in June, fans of the series have been eagerly awaiting the next DLC fighter. Sadly, there hasn’t been any additional news regardingSmash Bros.since Min Min was initially announced. Thus, as the fanbase typically does duringSmash Bros.content droughts, many fans have turned to leaks as a way of finding out what character is slated to appear next. This latest leak points to one of the most recognizable faces inOverwatch.

According to a now deleted post on GameFAQs, Tracer fromOverwatchwill be the next DLC fighter forSmash Bros. Ultimate. Given how popularOverwatchhas become even before its commercial release and how Tracer is arguably the face of the entire franchise, it seems like a good idea to include her in the game. Admittedly, she’s also a much more likely candidate thanBigby Wolf. Though, things did not stop there.
The leaker in question, Slayersfan, had supposedly predicted twoOverwatchskins that were released back in 2019. According to Slayersfan, an agreement between Nintendo and Blizzard had been finalized this year, but development presumably took awhile due to the effects of COVID-19. This deal to include Tracer inSmash Bros.was supposedly proposed as a result of the Switch version ofOverwatch.
As always, it’s best to take everything these leaks have to say with a grain of salt. If it was not officially announced by Nintendo, then there is absolutely no guarantee that any sort of leak is accurate. There have already been so many false alarms and debunkedSmash Bros.leaks to have come from 2020, it’s almost impossible to keep track of them all. Less than a week ago, fans of the serieswere convinced thatGeno fromMario RPGwould be the nextSmash Bros.fighter, until the leak was ultimately debunked.
Although, for how long Nintendo has kept quiet about newSmash Bros.DLC, an announcement is bound to happen sooner or later. Whenthe second Fighters Pass DLCwas announced earlier this year, Nintendo said that all of the fighters would be announced by the end of 2021. Thus, there’s still plenty of time for the company to announce the upcoming fighters.
