Over the past week, there has been an avalanche of leaks regarding the nextAssassin’s Creedgame, rumored to be namedAssassin’s Creed Origins. The biggest leak so far has come from 4Chan, which has made a number of detailed claims aboutAssassin’s Creed Origins, including the notion that it will be single player-only, with no multiplayer whatsoever.

According to the leaker, theAssassin’s Creed Originsdevelopment team decided to put multiplayer aside in favor of focusing completely on the single player gameplay. While the franchise has featured multiplayer gameplay in the past,Assassin’s Creed Originsabandoning it shouldn’t be too much of a shock for fans. After all, the most recent entry in the series,Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, didn’t have any kind of multiplayer  functionality either.

Even thoughAssassin’s Creed Originswon’t have multiplayer, though, that doesn’t mean the game will be free of some modern inconveniences that typically plague multiplayer games. If the leaker is to be believed, fans can still expectAssassin’s Creed Originsto havemicrotransactions of some sort, like the ones inBlack FlagandUnity. Unfortunately, the leaker didn’t elaborate on exactly what form microtransactions would take in the new game, so all fans can do is speculate at this time.

While it’s safe to say few fans will be happy that microtransactions are making a comeback, there may be those that are legitimately upset thatAssassin’s Creed Originswon’t have any multiplayer at all. For those that care about multiplayer, the leaker did mention that multiplayer is still a possibility, whether that means it could be added before launch or perhaps added as post-release content is unclear. The leaker also suggested that multiplayer could return in future entries in the franchise, even if it never makes its way toAssassin’s Creed Origins.

In the meantime, it’s worth noting that none of this information has been verified by Ubisoft. Therefore, it should be taken with a massive grain of salt.

Luckily, with Ubisoft’s E3 2017 press conference right around the corner, fans shouldn’t have to wait long to find out if there is any merit to theseAssassin’s Creed Originsleaks. Fans should tune in to Ubisoft’s press conference next month to learn all about the game, and whether any of therecent rumors about itare true.
