Rainbow Six Extractionhas a total of eighteen Operators to work toward reaching their maximum levels. If one of those characters dies while on a mission, they will be classified as “missing in action.” Unlike injured Operators who heal over time, being MIA means a character cannot be selected for missions until they are rescued.

This guide will explainhow to start a rescue mission and recover an MIA OperatorinRainbow Six Extraction, detail the best method for a higher chance of completing the objective, and exactly how to destroy the Archean Tree holding the Operator.

How to Rescue MIA Operators in Rainbow Six Extraction

If an Operator’s regular picture has been replaced with a red overlay on the character select menu, this means they have been lost on a previous mission and are now MIA.Players must go back to the exact level they lost them to rescue the MIA Operator. While every other main objective is randomized in the game, this rescue mission will always be one of the three objectives that reward lots ofXP inRainbow Six Extractionif an Operator was downed during that level.

Before starting, it’s highly recommended toset the difficulty to Moderate, and play either solo or with a group of friends that players can communicate with. Using the Quickplay party finder will launch a mission with two random players who most likely won’t care about rescuing the MIA Operator as much as the person who lost them. If players are struggling to find a reliable party to play with, they can use theRainbow Six ExtractionBuddy Pass, which lets two friends try the game at no cost for a limited time.

How to destroy Archean Tree in Rainbow Six Extraction

Successfully rescuing an MIA Operator will return them to a player’s roster as injured, but theOperator will eventually heal inRainbow Six Extraction. If players lose all their health again during a mission, the MIA Operator will still be returned, but at the cost of 30% of their XP and progress to REACT development milestones.

How to Complete MIA Operator Main Objective

As mentioned above, it’s best to set the difficulty to Moderate, and either play solo or with a group of friends that players can communicate with. Even with general gameplay, pushing for a higher difficulty than players can currently handle is a commonmistake made when playingRainbow Six Extraction.

Complete other main objectives until the Hot Zone containing the MIA Operator is reached.Using REACT tech can help locate the encased Operator quicker, but it’s recommended tokill enemies surrounding the objective first,so players don’t get attacked while mounting the rescue. This can be done quicker if using one of thebest weapons inRainbow Six Extraction.

To rescue the Operator from the Archean Tree, players need to shoot at the pulses traveling across its tendrils, and then shoot the circular base of the tendrils once they open and reveal their weak spot. This is easier to achieve with one team member pulling the Operator out of the tree, while the rest of the team shoots the targets.

Once the Archean Tree is destroyed and the Operator is picked up, carry them to the extraction point and place them in the pod. The MIA operator will then be returned to the players' roster.
