A new trailer forPokemon SwordandPokemon Shield’s two coming expansions is here, and with it comes a ton of new info on the new legendaries that are coming as part of it, including thepreviously shown Galarian legendary bird trioand two new regis.
While the trailer gives a release date of June 17 for the first expansion, theIsle of Armor, the most interesting thing revealed in the trailer are the new legendary Pokemon that appear to be coming in the second expansion toPokemon SwordandPokemon Shield, theCrown Tundra.

When the trailer reaches its second half for theCrown Tundra, it reveals that Mewtwo, along with all of the legendary Pokemon that have graced the covers ofPokemontitles past, will be catchable in Max Raid battles. That includes Ho-Oh, Lugia, Groudon, Kyogre, Dialga, Palkia, Zekrom, Reshiram, Xerneas, Yveltal, Solgaleo and Lunala. Giratina is also shown in the trailer, who was on the cover ofPokemon Platinum, which many believe may be a nod tothe rumoredPokemon DiamondandPearlremakes, since no other third-version of aPokemon“box legendary” was shown.
After that, the trailer unveils two brand new Pokemon in the form of two new regis. The first shown is named Regieleki. Regeleki is said to absorb electrons to live, and its signature move, Thunder Cage, traps the opponent from fleeing or being swapped out for 4 to 5 turns and deals damage each turn.
The second regi goes by the name Regidraco, who is composed of crystalized dragon energy and has a signature move called Dragon Energy, which deals more damage the higher its HP is. Players worried about not getting the Expansion Pass and not being able to catch these two, or any of the other new additions, shouldn’t fret however, as it was previously confirmed that players will be able to trade for themeven without buying the Expansion Pass.
Another exciting thing shown in the trailer are the first ever Galarian forms of legendary Pokemon, the legendary bird trio from the Kanto region. First seen inPokemon RedandBlue, Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres have been given new primary typing (though all three retain their secondary flying typing) and signature moves. Galarian Articuno is now Psychic instead of ice and now has the signature move Freezing Glare, which is capable of leaving a target frozen.
Galarian Zapdos is now fighting instead of electric and can use Thunderous Kick, which along with dealing physical damage can also lower the target’s Defense stat. Last but not least is Galarian Moltres, who is now Dark instead of Fire, and can use the new move Fiery Wraith, which has a chance of making the opposing Pokemon flinch.
While there isno release date for theCrown Tundraand when we will be able to catch these exciting new Pokemon, it is still slated to come out later this year. In the meantime, players should be excited to play theIsle of Armorin just a few short weeks.
