Pokemon GO, the game that brought thePokemonuniverse to mobile devices, has been in existence for three years now. During the height of its popularity, many believed that the game would soon be forgotten but that doesn’t seem to be the case after Sensor Tower Intelligence reported recently thatPokemon GO has reached over $2.5 billion in revenuesince its release.
After a successfulPokemon GOFest last year in Chicago, Niantic and ThePokemonCompany announced thePokemon GOSummer Tour of 2019, which will be comprised of three separate events that will take place in America, Europe, and Asia. ThePokemonGO Fest in Chicago will commence on June 13-16 in Grant Park, where attendees will be able to participate in several activities and meet fellow trainers across the 300-acre park. ThePokemon GOFest in Europe, on the other hand, will take place in Germany’s Westtfalenpark in Dortmund. Due to the success of last year’s Safari Zone event in the area, Niantic decided to host a full-fledgedPokemon GoFest in Dortmund, which will give participants an opportunity to explore its culture and history. Tickets for the Europe leg of the tour will go on sale later this spring and players can find more info about the eventhere.
To wrap up the Summer Tour, Niantic will be concluding the festivities in Asia, but as of the moment, there are still no details on when and which specific country the event will take place in.
Whilelast year’sPokemon GOFest was a successwith over 21,000 attendees and over 180,000 playing the game in the Chicago area, 2017’sPokemon GOFest was infamous for the plethora of issues that players experienced during the festivities.
In the months leading up to the event, players were looking forward to having an awesome time, especially after Niantic promised the increased probability of snatching up a legendary Pokemon. Unfortunately,2017’sPokemon GOFest turned into a fiascoforcing the company to issue a whopping $1.6 million payout to those participants who spent a fortune into traveling and lodging expenses to get to the event. Luckily, Niantic has last year’s success to build off from, and hopefully, the company will be able to deliver a safe and fun experience to all Pokemon trainers attending the scheduled events.
