Summary

One luckyPokemonfan came across an unexpected find when they spotted a copy ofPokemon Black 2inside a tub of LEGOs they bought at Goodwill. Goodwill can be a good place to find retro games at reasonable prices, but stumbling across a cartridge inside a bin of LEGOs is simply the result of some amazing luck. Sure, there is the odd tale of aPS2 fan making a surprise discovery in the basement, but, for the most part, this is the sort of thing collectors can only dream about.

Rather than creating a third version ofPokemon Black and White, as Game Freak and The Pokemon Company had done in previous generations, the franchise broke the long-standing trend by creating direct sequels to the Nintendo DS games. To this day,Pokemon Black 2 and White 2remain the only direct sequels in the main RPG series. Both the originals and the sequels proved to be quite successful as the Gen 5 games rank amongthe best mainlinePokemonRPGs.

Reddit user Ontheroadtw shared an image of aPokemon Black 2cartridge they found inside a bin of LEGOs they bought from Goodwill. Ontheroadtw estimates they also uncovered around $500 worth of LEGO Minifigures in addition to the Nintendo DS game. The Reddit user claims to have paid $199 for the entire tub.

On top of the value of the LEGO figures themselves,Pokemon Black 2sells for well over $100 on average, even without the box and manual. It’s not quite as valuable as some ofthe rarest Nintendo DS games, but a cartridge worth more than $100 is certainly a fortunate find.

Gen 5 has been top of mind forPokemonfans as many expectBlack and Whiteto be next in line for a remake, based on past patterns exhibited by The Pokemon Company. Although, to be clear, The Pokemon Company has proven to be unpredictable at times, so gamers should keep their expectations in check until something is officially announced. That said, given the amount Unova pocket monsters missing from recent games, some believePokemonGen 5 remakes are right around the corner.

Still, despite two waves of DLC, it appears as though Game Freak and The Pokemon Company aren’t quite done with the current RPGsPokemon Scarlet and Violet.Pokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers should circle January 11on their calendars, as even more content is slated to drop.
