Over on thePokemonsubreddit, a fan artist going by the handle NekuDemon has posted pixel art creations of several Poison-type Pokemon from the first generation. The artwork is part of the artist’s ongoing project called the Poisondex Pixelart, where they are attempting to draw every Poison-type Pokemon. In this new post, the artist shared their designs of both the male and female Nidoran lines, with Nidoking’s purple and Nidoqueen’s blue sprites relaying the power that these pocket monsters hold, which has earned them spots as some ofGiovanni’s strongest Pokemon. The next Pokemon revealed were Ekans and Arbok, whose purple and golden tones reinforced that they were critters who wielded poison effectively.
There were also Zubat and Golbat, whose wings the artist changed the color of by making them more red, which makes them stand out against the blue background. The following line NekuDemon tackled was the adorable Oddish family, including Gloom and Vileplume, with the latter wearing a broad smile while, apparently, mid-dance. The final set of pocket monsters that the artist made was Venonat and its evolution, Venomoth, which is currently one ofPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s best Poison-types.
NekuDemon’s post on thePokemonsubreddit was well-received, with other users complimenting the attention to detail that went into creating the pixel art. With the newer games becoming more 3D, pixel sprites are seemingly becoming a thing of the past in the Nintendo titles. However, talentedPokemonfan artists are keeping the old-school design alive and well by continuing to create their favorite critters in the style.
