Major Spoiler Warning For God of War Ragnarok’s StoryAn oddGod of War Ragnarokinteraction sees a beloved character inexplicably return from the grave and act as a companion to Kratos. The bizarre moment is made all the more humorous given that it occurs duringGod of War Ragnarok’sotherwise deeply emotional epilogue.
With broken releases and technical flops a regular occurrence,God of War Ragnarokwas a breath of fresh air for many, launching last November in a near-perfect state. In contrast, gamers recentlysaw the arrival ofStar Wars Jedi: Survivor, a sequel to 2019’sFallen Order, which has been widely panned for performance issues - particularly on PC. It has fueled ever-growing frustration at the state of non-console gaming, a sector of the industry that has endured a series of disappointing ports. That said, even titles likeGod of War Ragnarokcannot escape unintended bugs.

But when they are so few and far between, glitches and their unintended consequences are more a source of quaint joy than intense frustration. A prime example of this is demonstrated in a video uploaded to Reddit by Commercial_Raisin215,where fan-favorite character Brokis miraculously revived just before his funeral is due to commence. Kratos is standing on a dock nearby and directing Freya to fire Hex arrows directly at Brok’s corpse. The player then has Kratos throw his axe at the Hex-sphere’s center, which is intended to cause an explosion that engulfs the surrounding area.Click here to see the video on Reddit.
However, immediately after the explosion, Brok stands up tall and runs towards Kratos, passing two of his mourning friends without even saying hello. Brok does not say anything in the clip, nor does any character acknowledge him, and comments confirmed that if the player moves far enough away from that area,Brok will de-spawn and return to being a corpse, as he is destined to be.
Many playingGod of War Ragnarokfor the first time likely expected that Kratos would at some point journey to retrieve the missing part of Brok’s soul, something the player isnotified about early into the game by his brother Sindri. Alas, that knowledge is turned into a brutal moment of dramatic irony at the expense of the player, when Mimir reveals that the incomplete nature of Brok’s soul, at the time of his second death, means there is nothing left to save. Sindri’s subsequent breakdown has led some to believe the surviving brother may become an antagonist if the stories of either Kratos or Atreus continue.
God of War Ragnarokis available now on PS4 and PS5.
