Bandai Namco announces that its Nintendo Switch exclusive titleTaiko no Tatsujin: Drum ‘n’ Funwill be delisted and discontinue its sales from Nintendo’s eShop on July 20, 2025. As a Nintendo Switch exclusive,Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum ‘n’ Funmakes use ofthe Switch’s Joy-Con controllersin order to simulate the feeling of playing a drum, with the controllers acting as the drumsticks. In a collaboration with third-party hardware manufacturer HORI, players can also use a special controller that is shaped like an actual Taiko drum to play the game. Fans might be sad to hear that Bandai Namco will be discontinuing the sales ofDrum ‘n’ Funstarting at the end of November.

This announcement was made onTaiko no Tatsujin’s official Twitter account, stating that sales of the game will stop on November 30 at midnight. “We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our customers who have purchased or played the game, and we kindly ask for your understanding in this matter,” says the Twitter post. TheNintendo Switchexclusive will still be playable even after the game has been delisted, and any DLC forDrum ‘n’ Funwill still be available to purchase after the main game has been taken off the eShop. Not only that, players can redownload any purchased DLC after sales have ended.
The post highlights how fans can continue supporting the series by purchasingTaiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festivalon the Nintendo Switch. Released in 2022,Rhythm Festivalcontains a lot of the same songs asDrum ‘n’ Fun, including songs from anime likeDragon Ball,Neon Genesis Evangelion, andAttack on Titan. More songs forRhythm Festivalcan be purchased through the game’s in-game subscription service and DLC.

Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festivalis a bit of an upgraded version ofDrum ‘n’ Fun, having features not found in the latter game. WhileRhythm Festivalcontains over 500 songs, some shared betweenDrum ‘n’ Fun, there are some songs exclusive to the latter game. It’s likely the delisting ofDrum ‘n’ Funwas due to expired licenses, but that has not been clarified at the time of this writing. Some fans are still sad to see thisNintendo Switch game get delisted, asDrum ‘n’ Funcontaines some songs, likeSuper Mario Odyssey’s “Jump Up Superstar,” that aren’t available inRhythm Festival.
