Summary

Fans eager to fight throughMortal Kombat 1as DC antihero Peacemaker might have to wait a little while longer than planned, as a new report suggests that his designated DLC has been delayed. Ever since 2011’sMortal Kombat 9, NetherRelam has been adding characters from famous TV shows, films, and comics to its fighting game universe, and last year’sMortal Kombat 1is continuing the trend by featuring villains and antiheroes from recent comic adaptations. The bloodthirsty Viltrumite warrior Omni-Man fromInvincibleflew intoMortal Kombat 1back in November, and the similarly-powered villain Homelander ofThe Boysfame is reportedly being released sometime this spring.

Before that, DC Comics’ Peacemaker is set to bring his own brand of ruthless aggression toMortal Kombat 1as the third guest character in the Kombat Pack 1 DLC collection. A relatively small player in the DC Universe, Christopher Smith recently found renewed notoriety thanks to his appearances in the DC Extended Universe in bothThe Suicide Squadand the laterPeacemakerspin-off series. This version of the character, played byWWE 2K23cover star John Cena, was announced as part of the initialMK 1DLC wave last July, with some fans later theorizing that he would be released in early access on February 13.

This might not be the case, as Twitter user iScreamFGC recently spotted a clue thatMortal Kombat 1’s Peacemaker DLC has been delayed. According to them, the official countdown timer for the current Kombat League has been extended until February 28, meaning that the fourthMK 1Invasion season won’t begin until then. As both Omni-Man andreturningMK1DLC character Quan Chiwere released alongside a new Invasion season, it stands to reason that Peacemaker won’t be added to the game until then.

MK 1’s Peacemaker DLC Could Be Delayed

Of course, NetherRealm hasn’t officially confirmed that Peacemaker would be added at the same time as Invasion Season 4, so the DLC character could be released on a separate date. Furthermore, the developer never gave an exact date for when Peacemaker would be released, with the aforementioned February 13 date being a fan estimate drawn frompastMK 1DLC release patterns. All NetherRealm revealed in an official capacity is that Peacemaker would be released in “Winter,” a broad time frame that the newly reported February 28 launch date still falls under.

In any case, it looks like players might have to wait a few more weeks tosee Peacemaker inMortal Kombat 1, at least if this recent leak about Season 4 being held back until February 28 is correct. Peacemaker is far from the onlyMortal Kombat 1DLC character waiting in the wings, as he will be followed byMK 1supporting character Ermac, the previously mentioned Homelander, and returningMortal Kombat Xcombatant Takeda Takahashi as part of Kombat Pack 1.
