After so many years,Minecraftplayers continue to impress the community with a slew of imaginative projects, builds, and redstone contraptions coming out all the time. It’s hard to imagine that Mojang’s sandbox title was one of thebest-selling games of 2022despite how old it is. However, its distinctive visuals, accessibility, and the fact that it provides almost endless creative potential mean it continues to draw people in.
With the developer keeping the game up to date with new ideas, includingadding Crocs intoMinecraft, there is a good chance it will continue to be a vital part of the gaming community for years to come. Of course, the studio implementing additional features is a great thing, but it’s the fan base itself that’s keeping theMinecrafttrain going. Players from all walks of life have been building in the blocky world for years, and there are an infinite amount of things that can be made. To anyone who wonders how it’s managed to stand the test of time after all these years, some recent constructions from the community provide an answer.

A Recent Example: A Minecraft Dam
There are countless builds that have come about since the game released in 2011, or 2009 for those counting the alpha, but a recent example comes fromReddit user ovidiurusnac.
Not only did they build a stunning castle inMinecraft, they then decided it needed something extra, so they went ahead and built an impressive-looking dam. A number of images on the post show the dam from a few angles, demonstrating that they didn’t just construct a gray wall thing to block the water. It’s actually a pretty elaborate design. There are even a couple of horse statues affixed on top, which ovidiurusnac says were inspired by a TikTok user. When asked how they filled the water, the creator said they dug out the shape and then filled it from the bottom up, essentially making their own lake that somehow looks natural.

Since the game launched, players have not stopped using their imagination to actualize all sorts of ideas. While there are many ways toalleviate boredom inMinecraft, it’s the creation of structures that lies at the heart of the game’s longevity.

Even More Impressive Minecraft Builds
There are some projects that stand the test of time, being relevant no matter when images and clips are posted, but there are also those that are more topical. For example, YouTuber Bubbaflubba decided tohonor Super Bowl LVII inMinecraftby recreating State Farm Stadium. Their video shows an awesome time-lapse of their build, which took them around 150 hours to complete. The finished project consists of a full interior, more than 6,000 parking spots, seven lounges, 33 restrooms, and 66 private rooms. The attention to detail in this recreation is quite staggering.
Then there are those fans that like to pay tribute to other game franchises. Reddit user hibreck, as another example, decided thatMinecraftneeded its own Dimitrescu Castle, an obvious nod toResident Evil Village. Again, it’s worth noting the finesse that’s gone into this construction, paying close attention not only to the overall aesthetic of the castle, but the gloomy backdrop that really sells the coldness of the scenery because that’s what someMinecraftbuilds are. They’re not just blocks stacked up to make a specific shape. They’re scenes depicting an idea or referencing something that couldn’t be further from the likes of Mojang’s sandbox IP.
Finally, there are some clever folk who go that one bit further by completely reinventing the game. As evidenced by YouTuber C1OUS3R, it’s possible toturnMinecraftinto the originalLegend of Zeldawithout using any mods. It could be argued that this is less of a build and more of an elaborate modification, but it’s still worthy of mention because it showcases the dedication thatMinecraftfans are still putting in.
WithMinecrafthaving low PC spec requirements, not to mention having been ported to several systems over the years, it’s hardly surprising that the game is as popular as it is. It’s easy to get into, addictive, fun, and suitable for all ages. And with fans like the ones above, as well as many others, showing off such awesome projects, gamers are evidently not ready to move on from Mojang’s behemoth title.
Minecraftis available on Mobile, PC, PS3, PS4, Switch, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
