During Xbox’s E3 Press Conference,Minecraft: Dungeons, the cooperative RPG title set in theMinecraftuniverse, released its first gameplay trailer today. The new trailer showed a number of gameplay mechanics, what type of environments players will jump into, as well as a release window for the game.

While it was originally announced back in Fall 2018,Minecraft: Dungeonslooks to offer a similar gameplay style along the likes ofDiablowith its isometric-RPG style. At the time however, the game was slated to launch in 2019, but has since been pushed back for a Spring 2020 release. Some of the environments players will explore include forests, dungeons, and temples, and is confirmed to offer both online and local 4-player co-op.

Given the game’s “dungeon crawler” reference in its original announcement, its likely the players will be spending much of their time together taking down waves of enemies and acquiring loot to manage. Given building and inventory management are two of the most prominent features in traditionalMinecraft, this shouldn’t come as a surprise to many.

It’s no secret developer Mojang has looked at new ways to use theMinecraftIP to influence spin-off projects. WhileMinecraft: Dungeonslooks to bring a whole new gameplay experience, the developer has also taken a narrative approach in the past, collaborating with Telltale Games to release two seasons ofMinecraft: Story Modeto various consoles, howeverthose games will be delistedacross various digital stores later this month following Telltale’s closure this past Fall.

Given themillions of copies Minecraft has soldsince the game first launched in 2009, there’s never a bad time for the team behind the massive crafting simulator to try and find new ways to give fans a new experience. Even though the game will be published by Microsoft,Minecraft: Dungeonsis confirmed to be coming to other systems such as PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

New details forMinecraft: Dungeonswas just one of the many announcements to come from Xbox’s E3 Conference. The roughly 90-minute show offered new information onconsole specs for Project Scarlett, as well as release dates and windows forGears 5andHalo Infinite, respectively. Arguably the biggest reveal however came from developer CD Projekt RED’s upcoming titleCyberpunk 2077, which not only announced its released date, but confirmed actorKeanu Reeves would be starringin the massive open-world game.
