Summary
Xbox players are receiving fewer points for completing theirXbox Game Passquests that are available through the Microsoft Rewards program. TheMicrosoft Rewards have been changing throughout 2023, and the adjustments are more apparent with players taking notice of the big changes.
The Microsoft Rewards program is a platform that allows Xbox players, Bing users, and any Microsoft consumer in between to earn points by playing games, searching for terms on Bing, and purchasing products. Users can accumulate and use these points to earn gift cards, donate to organizations, participate in sweepstakes, and obtain digital codes for games such asMinecraft,League of Legends, andSea of Thieves. One quick way for users to rack up points is to completeXbox Game Passquests daily, weekly, and monthly. Console, mobile, and PC players can earn points, though it appears that Microsoft is making some adjustments.

As Microsoft continues to offer its players ways to play its games, it has begun to reduce the available points that gamers can acquire through the Xbox Game Pass subscription. After making some changes to the Bing search engine and how users can collect points, Microsoft made a notable drop in the Daily category of theRewards program for Game Pass users for November 2023. The “Earn an Achievement in Game Pass” quest now rewards the player with +5 points upon completion; previously, it was set to +50. Even though it is a Daily quest, the change in its reward distribution is immense.
Each month presents a new set of quests for Xbox players to fulfill, encouraging them to play games and earn rewards. While the Rewards program is still in beta for Xbox platforms, it nonetheless provides opportunities for players to obtain points if they’re looking to get some big rewards. With new numbers like the ones in question, it’s possible that further changes could be made to the program.
While these shifts seem fresh, some users on Twitter have noted the program’s continued decline over the past several months, at least in some regions around the world. “It has been like this for a few months, at least in the uk,” one user wrote in response to a post from an Xbox player who shared a screenshot of the diminished points. Notably, the post includes a quest forLimboon Game Passthat can reward the player with +250 points.
While these changes are relatively new to the Microsoft Rewards program, there’s no telling what other additional adjustments Microsoft will make. Granted, there are a few ways for Microsoft customers to earn and maximize their amount of points. Completing Game Pass quests only fills up a portion of what the program offers, though this could just be the start of Microsoft making a few changes to its infrastructure after a busy year with theacquisition of Activision Blizzardand major game releases.
