Ever since the cancellation of the nextSilent Hillgame teased by theP.T.demo, fans have been clamoring for news about whether a new installment in the horror series will ever surface. WithLayers of FeardeveloperBloober Team denying any rumors they were working on anSHtitle, the gaming community is constantly being disappointed, yet still hopeful that, eventually, it will happen. Well, now it looks as though Konami may be fueling those theories once more as an announcement gets made through the company’s official merch store.
Posting to Twitter recently, the official Konami shop has announced aSilent Hillhoodie that’s being released soon, specifically related to the second game, which many would argue is the greatest of the series. The hoodie sports the phrase “it’s gone now” on the chest, with the words “there was a hole here” down the side of the sleeve. This is a reference to Neely’s Bar, which players gain access to in the game, where the aforementioned phrase is painted onto a window that’s been covered with newspaper. The hoodie also features Pyramid Head on the back, again referencingSilent Hill 2.

The tweet also says that the hoodie will be available for pre-order as of today, though the timing of this is likely to stir up theories about whether a newSilent Hillgame is on the way. With Blue Box working onAbandonedand having tobacktrack on rumors that the studio is actually making aSilent Hillgame, the release of this hoodie will likely mean that fans will be holding onto whatever hope is left that the series is about to make a return.
Konami officially confirmed thatSilent Hillswas cancelled back in 2015, and there hasn’t been an installment in the franchise since 2012’s PS Vita exclusiveBook of Memories. Due to the breakup between the Japanese company and its star developer Hideo Kojima, the fate of the horror series has been uncertain all these years.
It shows just how much fans are after a new game when the likes ofindie titles such asPost Traumaare taking inspiration fromSilent Hill. It’s clearly a series that’s overdue for a return, and maybe the announcement of this hoodie could be Konami’s way of letting people know that things are about to happen. It could also just be a hoodie that capitalizes on what everyone is currently talking about.
