Hogwarts Legacytells the story of a young fifth-year student during their time at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Shortly into the main story, players will be given the chance to explore the game’s world to their heart’s content, but sadly, not all areas are easily accessed.

One such area can be found just across from the entrance tothe Headmaster’s Office. Interacting with this door without the correct item will cause it to remain shut, so players will need to seek out the means of opening it elsewhere.Hogwarts Legacywon’t explicitly state what is required to open this door, however, so some players might struggle in finding the solution.
Updated August 26th, 2023:Players who want to explore every possible inch ofHogwarts Legacywill have to solve some interesting puzzles to make it into some of the best-hidden areas found throughout the school grounds and the areas surrounding them. The door across from theHeadmaster’s Office in Hogwarts Legacyis particularly tricky to open and will force players to jump through a few hoops to finally gain access to what lies behind it. To help players get through theHeadmaster’s Office Door in Hogwarts Legacy, the following guide has been updated with a video.
How To Unlock Level 3 Locks
Before attempting to open the door next to the Headmaster’s Office, players should first completeThe Caretaker’s Lunar Lament, a main quest that tasks the protagonist with sneaking into the Faculty Tower and locating two Demiguise Statues. At the beginning of this quest, Gladwin Moon will teach the protagonist how to cast Alohomora, a spell that players can then useto pick locks.
Some locks inHogwarts Legacyare harder to break than others, so players will need to upgrade their Alohomora spell toLevel 2and thenLevel 3if they wish to gain access to the game’s more secret areas.
Once players have returnedtwenty-two Demiguise Statuesto Gladwin Moon, he will teach the protagonist how to unlockLevel 3 Locks. With this ability acquired, players will have everything they need in order to open the door next to the Headmaster’s Office.
Where To Find The Door Next To The Headmaster’s Office
If players have yet to happen upon the Headmaster’s Office, they likely won’t know where to find the locked door next to it. The fastest way to reach it isto fast-traveltothe Trophy Roomabove The Grand Staircase, turn right, and proceed through the gate at the end of the corridor.

From there, the player should follow the path forward, climb the spiraling staircase to the very top, and turn right. There, they will find a door with an intricate lock, butAlohomora won’t open it. Instead, players will need to find and acquire theKey of Admittance, a unique item that can only be obtained from the Headmaster’s Office.
How To Find The Key Of Admittance
to gain access to the Headmaster’s Office, the player will first need to have unlockedNiamh Fitzgerald’s Trialand completed the first part of it. That said, the Key of Admittance is actually located in the room above the Headmaster’s Office, which means thataccessing the office isn’t required to obtain the key.
If players have completedthe Flying Class quest, they can easily reach the Headmaster’s Office byflying their broomto the tower’s balcony and landing on the small stairway beside the door. Upon doing so, they should ascend the stairs until they reach the door with theLevel 3 Lock. Alohomora can then be used to unlock the Level 3 Lock, granting players access to a new area.
Once inside, players must climb the stairs in front of them to the very top, where theKey of Admittancecan be foundresting on the tableto the right.
How To Open The Door Next To The Headmaster’s Office
Those who obtained the Key of Admittance by flying to the Headmaster’s Office shouldfast-travel back to the Trophy Roomand return to the locked door on foot, but players who already have access to the office can simply return to the entrance. Upon reaching the far end of the hallway,the locked door can be openedwith the Key of Admittance by simply interacting with it.
Climbing the stairs on the other side of the door will lead the player to a room in which theQuill of Acceptance and Book of Admittance Field Guide Pagecan be found, alongside a chest containing theBotanical - Bronze Leaf wand handleand another containing theCabinets decorative item.
How To Find All Hogwarts Secrets
Unlocking the door next to the Headmaster’s Office and exploring the room with the Quill of Acceptance and Book of Admittance will complete one of theSolve Hogwarts Secretschallenges and reward the protagonist with theSecret Solver’s Bathing Costume. To complete the remaining two challenges, players must find the location of two more secrets in Hogwarts Castle and solve the puzzle associated with each of them.
The Clock Tower Secret Location
The Clock Tower Secretcan be completed by solving the puzzle involving the pendulum in the Clock Tower. To reach this location, players should fast-travel to theClock Tower Courtyard Floo Flamein the South Wing. TheGlaciusandArresto Momentumspells are required to solve the puzzle here.

The Viaduct Courtyard Bridge Secret Location
The Viaduct Courtyard Bridge Secretcan be completed by solving the puzzle involving the four braziers on the bridge leading to the Central Hall. To reach this location, the player should fast-travel to theCentral Hall Floo Flamein the Library Annex, travel up both sets of stairs, and proceed through the door leading outside. TheIncendiospell is required if players hope to solve the puzzle here.
