Bugs are commonplace in video games and can present themselves in quite a hilarious fashion, as oneDestiny 2player found out when their weapon began producing a mechanic reserved for the annual Dawning event.Destiny 2has had a storied history with bugs, glitches, and a myriad of unintended interactions involving weapons, armor, and even the terrain itself. While the developers usually are quick to fix the issues, it only serves as a reminder that live-service games are tough to keep running in perfect conditions.Like most live-service games,Destiny 2celebrates special occasions such as Halloween and Valentine’s Day with temporary events that bring thematic activities, exclusive rewards, and more. Among these events, the Dawning is possibly one of the most sought-after by the community. Introduced inDestiny: Rise of Ironand designed around Wintertime celebrations, the Dawning brings several changes to the world ofDestiny 2, namely adorning the Tower with snowballs and frozen decor. Aside from the social hub, snowballs are found in the various Patrol Zones and Lost Sectors, which can be used offensively. The event also brings levity in the form of baking cookies for the various NPCs, which also functions as one of theeasiest ways to get some of the best weapons inDestiny 2.RELATED:Unexpected Destiny 2 Enemy Faction Could Be the Main Villains After Final ShapeThe current iteration of the Dawning is drastically different from the original event structure, especially with Bungie adding several benefits of the Stasis element to the snowballs in 2021. Conversely, any Stasis kill performed during the Dawning also has a chance to spawn snowballs, which encourages a cyclic gameplay loop. However, aDestiny 2player named hellfangz has posted a clip of their gameplay on Twitter, whereupon killing a Hive wizard with Riptide Stasis Fusion Rifle generated two snowballs which the player and their teammate reflexively pick up. As hellfangz realizes what has happened, the teammate throws their snowball, creating a large explosion. The player then throws their snowball at the nearest bunch of enemies, which promptly die to the cascading explosions as hellfangz and their teammates laugh and express shock at the bug.

The player later mentioned in the comment section that they replicated the bug four times throughout the run, which helpedtheir mission to getDestiny 2’s latest Exotic weapon. The player also pointed out that using Riptide with the Chill Clip Legendary perk might have been the driving factor in producing the bug, and the snowballs maintained full functionality of slowing stronger enemies and chain-killing weaker ones. Hellfangz further mentions that subsequent runs with the same weapon failed to generate the snowballs, indicating there might be some underlying factors for producing the bug.

WithrecentDestiny 2bugs being quite problematic for guardians, this beneficial bug is quite the change in pace. As the bug serves as a reminder of the enjoyment The Dawning brings, players should relish it before Bungie fixes it in a future patch.

Destiny 2is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
