The re-release ofRed Dead Redemptionon modern platforms has sent the internet into a frenzy, for both good and bad reasons. The world ofRed Dead Redemptionmay be nowhere near as massive as its predecessor, but that doesn’t take away anything from the immense quality of this game. There are many areas in the game that most people still don’t know about, with these locations being mysterious, breathtaking, unique, or a mix of all three.

7Warthington Ranch

Bonnie MacFarlane’s ranch is a place that players will frequent quite a bit inthe early chapters ofRed Dead Redemption. This helpful character takes care of Johh after he’s wounded by Bill Williamson and his gang, only for the tables to be turned when Bonnie is abducted instead and almost gets hanged before John comes to save the day.

What most people don’t know is that there’s actually a ranch south of Bonnie’s property that has a unique name of its own and is required for 100% completion, called Warthington Ranch. This place doesn’t appear in any mission and isn’t really on the way to any notable location, meaning that most people have probably never found this area in the hours they’ve spent in this game!

6Mesa De La Luna

Entering Nuevo Paraiso for the first time inRed Dead Redemptionis a magical moment that is accompanied by some truly beautiful music that will remain in the minds of fans long after they’re finished with this experience. It’s a major shift for the story and lets players explore a whole new region with a unique flair of its own.

However, unless players are actively scouring this location and seeking out its many landmarks, they’ll eventually miss out on some stunning locations like Mesa de la Luna. The name means Plateau of the Moon in Spanish and is a beautiful rock formation that players can check out for themselves if they head south from Mesa del Sol.

5Flat Iron Lake

Most people won’t really witness Flat Iron Lake unless they hug the borders of the map and see everything that the world’s edge has to offer. One of these locations is Flat Iron Lake, an area so anonymous that it doesn’t even count for 100% completion!

It’s a serene location, and fans ofRed Dead Redemption 2may even recognize the landmass across the lake if they’re familiar with the map of the sequel. The area is Lemoyne, and the river that separates the two areas wasn’t formed during Arthur Morgan’s adventures. This was a creative liberty taken by Rockstar Games to increase the size of the map without having to be limited by the scope of the first game.

4Rio Del Toro

Unless players are actively doing the Treasure Hunts that are present in this game (and are notoriously difficult to accomplish without dumb luck or a guide) they’ll never even set foot in Rio de Toro. This area is present on the southern shore of the San Luis River in a location that no one will go on their own unless they genuinely want to explore.

The location was so forgettable that it didn’t even make its way intoRed Dead Redemption 2, becoming a piece of visual scenery present out of bounds in the game’s massive map. It’s a shame since the area is beautiful in its own way and could’ve been a great setting for a Stranger mission if nothing else.

3Broken Tree

Another location that players won’t explore unless they’re diligentlycompleting the Treasure Hunter challenges inRed Dead Redemptionis Broken Tree. This location is pretty serene, with a single tree standing proud and tall in the middle of a grassland.

Most people consider this area to be a reference toShawshank Redemption, which makes this place a great one for easter egg hunters to visit. However, the lack of any meaningful events in this location means that most people will miss out on a pretty cool location in the game.

2Ojo Del Diablo

Unlike most other places in the game that aren’t as well-known, there are still two reasons that players may have explored Ojo del Diablo. However, even these tasks will only be accomplished by people who are completionists, given thatthey’re related to hunting rare animalsand finding hidden treasure.

This is another place in the original game that is only seen out of bounds inRed Dead Redemption 2. However, players have gone the extra mile by abusing out-of-bounds glitches to access this location with ease.

1Montana Ford

A river crossing that connects New Austin to West Elizabeth, Montana Ford is a pretty beautiful location that most players don’t pay too much attention to. While this location is present in the sequel, it’s now an unlabeled section of the map, showing just how anonymous this crossing is.

This river is flooded until players gain access to West Elizabeth, which is an ingenious way toprevent Marston from going to a location where he shouldn’t be gallivanting around. It’s a simple area in the game, but one that many people either never visit or ignore entirely.
