Fuller Housestar Lori Loughlin is slowly easing herself back into the spotlight of mainstream media. The star found herself in some significant legal hot water after it was disclosed that she and her husband Mossimo Giannulli had abused their status and the college board to get their two daughters ahead, and now she’s opened up about the scandal.

In 2019, it was revealed that Loughlin and Giannulli had paid $500,000 as a bribe to ensure their daughters, Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose, would be admitted into the University of Southern California. Loughlin even went as far as to have her daughters pose for fake rowing photos, making it seem like the girls' acceptance to was connected to the school’s crew team, even though neither of the girls participated in or had ever played the sport. The star ofNetflix’sFuller Housepleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit fraud, served a two-month jail sentence back in 2020, and was ordered by a judge to complete 150 hours of community service upon her release. Her husband served a five-month sentence for his crimes and was released in April 2021.

Despite the backlash she has faced over the past few years, Loughlin made her first television appearance since the admissions scandal. The appearance was made during KTLA’sLead with Love 3telethon, where Loughlin appeared as a guest and promoted her charity work with Project Angel Food in Los Angeles.TheFull Housealumgushed when talking about her work with the charity, telling KTLA, “It is a community, it is a family, and all the people that work here are just so wonderful. They have welcomed me with such open arms at a time when I was feeling particularly down and broken.”

She went on to add that Project Angel Food is about more than just feeding people in need, and expressed that she found the most unlikely home while working with the organization. “I’m so proud to be here and working with this organization. Because they really do care. It’s really a community,” she explained. TheFuller Housestar’s name was included in many conversations regarding power imbalances and the effects of white privilege in Hollywood when the news about the college scandal broke. This caused many to be angered and a lot of her long-time fans from her time on the'90s sitcomFull Houseturned against her.

Loughlin has made huge public mistakes that ultimately prevented other qualified students from being accepted to the University of Southern California, and nothing will diminish that. That said, it looks like the star is attempting to turn over a new leaf and has found a real sense of solitude in her work for the less fortunate, and that should be celebrated.
