A new season ofFortnitemeans a new cast of characters and a set of weaponry for players to get their hands on, and further their chances of conquest over the 99 other players that want that sweet Victory Royale. WithFortnite’s newest season, Myths & Monsters, players are tasked with challenging the very gods of Olympus themselves, and Zeus, the king of the gods, won’t exactly take kindly to being challenged by a mere mortal Looper.
Chapter 5 Season 2sees Zeus andother gods from the Greek Mythologytake to theFortniteisland, placing themselves as champions and gods. Not to fear, as these gods are beatable, and Zeus in particular, harbors some incredible loot thanks to the Mythic DMR. But first, players will need to test their might and get through Zeus' boss phases without being sent back to the lobby.
Zeus Altar Location
Players canacquire Zeus' Mythic DMR after they beat Zeus, the King of the Gods, in battle. First,head to Mount Olympus, preferably as a dropping point from the Battle Bus, as other players might kill Zeus before players have the chance. Keep aware that the boss fight itself is open to everyone, so even if players are trying their best to eliminate Zeus, another player can easily join in to eliminate you, or take the mighty loot, so it’s best to loot up, shield up, and get ready for a fight. To activate the fight, simplyapproach the marble statue in the center of Zeus' throne room and interact with it, causing the player to topple it over, andbegin the Zeus boss fight which will have 3 phases.
How To Beat Zeus
Zeus can be a rather troublesome foe, especially now that players have to defeat Zeus thanks to the latest Snapshot quests. This is going to make Zeus a rather popular drop choice, so players will need to bring their best strategies in order to be the first to be responsible for his demise.
Firstly, players are going to want to drop to Mount Olympus from the Battle Bus, as being here first is the best way to stop other players from activating the boss fight and potentially eliminating him. Once players have landed, they are going to want to immediately search for guns, lots of guns, and shields to keep their health at the maximum against other players. This is going to be a hot spot to land at, so shielding up first and then scouting out other players is the best way forward, as it’s either the player or them.
Players are going to encounter some resistance from hostile players, so try and clear out Mount Olympus, as seen in the video above. Many players attempt to interview the Zeus boss fight, but distracting them and taking them out first is going to be key.
The best weapons for these fights are shotguns and SMGs for fast and hard-hitting damage at close range, and competent ARs to chip away at enemy health from afar. If players manage to stumble upon Water Bending or an E-11 Blaster, then that’s perfect, as those weapons have infinite ammo and can be deadly in the right hands.
As for Zeus himself, players are going to want to keep an eye out for hostile players invading but try and stay focused on the boss fight himself, where players are going to want to stick to cover, and only jump out to run when Zeus is ready to throw a Thunder Bolt. Keeping shield items in the area by throwing them is also a good idea in case Zeus gets the better of players, but simply staying away from him and shooting from a distance will make the fight safer, even if it’s a tad slower.
Zeus has three phases, all of which can be found in detail below, but after he is defeated, the quest is complete, and players can enjoy his weapon, medallion, and even a Flowberry Fizz to celebrate.
Zeus Phase One
Toppling the statue will Challenge Zeus, and he will thenspawn in with a Warforged Assault Rifle. Zeus has a ton of health and shields to eat through, so it’sbest to bring EMP grenades to make short work of his shield, andkeep to high groundso that he is forced to chase his target. As always,headshots are the most efficient methodof takedown, andSMGs for their rapid-fire rate, but players will have to watch out, asZeus will occasionally leap into the sky in preparation to hurl a lightning bolt. Simplyrun behind cover to avoid the lightning bolt, or evade to cause Zeus to miss. If players are in squads,he will only focus on one target, so everyone else shouldshoot at Zeus in this vulnerable state.
Zeus Phase Two
After players have successfully defeated Zeus for the first time,he will kneel, and create a lightning bubble around him. Zeus is immobilized, andhe will spawn some warriorsto help him. Players need todefeat these warriors, which have a limited health pool of 100 and are armed with Assault Rifles, in order to bring Zeus into his third and final phase. These soldiers may be overwhelming, but their limited health makes them easy targets, sokeep to cover and take them out one by one.
Zeus Phase Three
Upon the start of the third phase,Zeus will rise in the air in his lightning bubble, and absorb it togrow in size, almost becoming double the size of a normal character model. Zeus has an even larger health pool, but his weapon remains the same. However, players need to be cautious, as hisleap attack can be deadly. If playersnotice an electric ring around them, they need to run away from it, asZeus will leap into it causing damage to anyone within the circle.Keep to cover and play it smartand safe to eliminate Zeus and claim his loot.
Aspect Of Speed Medallion
The vigor of Zeus! Run faster and humper higher while sprinting. Reveals your location on the map.
Players can claim Zeus' Medallion upon his elimination, which gives them an advantage to their movement speed and jump capabilities. It’s a great medallion for those always on the move, but just remember, all Medallions will reveal the player’s location to everyone on the map.
Zeus' Huntress DMR Stats
A flawless rifle said to have been given to Zeus by the Goddess of the Hunt for luck.
Zeus drops the Mythic Huntress DMR, which has some incredible stats. Players who are quick on the draw and great at aiming their shots will enjoy this weapon for its headshot capabilities, which can easily eliminate players in just one headshot and one body shot.
