A formerCall of Dutydeveloper now working for Respawn Entertainment shares a gruff and direct message withModern Warfare Remastered’s production team.
Ever since video game publisher Activision and developer Infinity Ward announced thatCall of Duty: Modern Warfare Remasteredwas in the works, fans of the first-person shooter franchise have been excited to relive the title’s single-player campaign, and revisit its mutliplayer maps with updated graphics. Of course, with anticipation being so high forCall of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, many people don’t want it to end up becoming a busted product, particularly Infinity Ward’s co-founder and former CEO, Vince Zampella, who is now currently at the helm of Respawn Entertainment.
When speaking to the press outlet Eurogamer about his studio’s latest project withTitanfall 2,Modern Warfare Remasteredalso made its way into the conversation. Interestingly enough, Zampella made it clear that he didn’t want his former company to sully the quality and good name of the original that he and so many others worked on, and he even went so far as to contact them directly with a blunt message explaining as much.
“I told them - don’t f*** it up. That’s my on the record response. I rang them up and said, honestly, don’t f*** it up. It’s a huge part of people’s gaming memories.”
With many considering the originalCall of Duty 4: Modern Warfareto be a classic in terms of first-person shooter gameplay, some might believe it would be difficult to ruin a title with such a solid bedrock by simply revamping the graphics and updating the visuals. However, there are a lot of people withthe opinion that Activision is botching the game’s release. One major point of contention is the fact that gaming fans won’t be able to purchaseModern Warfare Remasteredon its own, and will instead have to obtain the title in a bundle with one ofCall of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s premium packages, asit is not sold separatelyfrom the forthcoming game.
To be fair, though, it seems as if Raven Software—the team handlingModern Warfare Remastered—is attempting to bring back all of the features in the game that made the first version so popular. For instance, developers are incorporating as many of the original’smultiplayer mapsas possible. Not to mention,Modern Warfare Remasteredwill provide fans of the shooter with a solid online experience withthe promise of dedicated servers upon launch.
At any rate, considering the fact thatModern Warfare Remasteredwon’t be releasing until this fall alongsideInfinite Warfare, we will have to wait and see what else is in store for the title. Apreview in September is scheduledfor the updated shooter’s multiplayer at this year’s Call of Duty XP event, but at this point, no further details have been delivered as to what exactly will be shown. In the meantime, it’s best to reserve judgment on the competency of Raven Software’s ability to giveModern Warfare Remasteredthe treatment it deserves until all of the facts have been shared.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remasteredis set for release on July 18, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, but can only be obtained by purchasing one ofCall of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s premium editions.
