The humble Radstag is one of the more docile creatures inFallout 76. They roam post-apocalyptic Appalachia peacefully, leaving players alone (most of the time) as they go about doing their daily business.
Killing Radstags isn’t exactly afast way to level up inFallout 76,but they do provide valuable cooking and crafting resources, and some of the game’s many quests will need players to hunt some of these mutants down. Here’s a quick guide going over some of the known Radstag locations across the Appalachian wasteland.
Description
Savage Divide - Thomas Farmhouse
Unmarked area northeast of Dent & Sons Construction. Up to four albinos can be found around the farm.
Forest - Whitespring Golf Club
Two can be found to the north of the golfing club.
Near the Gilman Lumber Mill.
Forest - Vault 76
Some can be spotted all over the wide perimeter of the vault.
Forest - Gauley Mine
Two can be spotted along the rail tracks near the mine’s exit.
Around the eastern and western farms flanking the town.
Forest - Route 87
Multiple Radstags can be spotted along the road between Summerville and Lakeside Cabins.
Out of all the locations in the list above, the best place to find Radstags is the Thomas Farm in the Savage Divide. You can find it near the Dent & Sons Construction POI — there’s a large barn at the farm, so it should be hard to miss. The rest of the locations may or may not have any Radstags at all. Such is the nature of the game — if you’re in desperate need of Radstag materials, it’s best to scour each location thoroughly. Visit them again later to see if any of the Radstags have respawned.
Unlike other mutants, most Radstags are fairly harmless. Some will fight back, however, so bring thebest guns you may find inFallout 76just to be safe.
Radstag Drops and Notes
Radstags primarily dropmeatandhidewhen killed, and both are very valuable when it comes to questing, crafting, and cooking. Some repeatable quests likeThrill of the Grillrequire players to hunt Radstags and collect their meat — pre-hunting some is great for finishing this quest faster.
Grilled Radstag is one of the most reliable consumables in the game. Not only does it heal for 60 HP, but it also increases your carrying capacity by 20. Meanwhile, Radstag Hide can be scrapped into Leather, which is used for a wide variety of equipment recipes. Make sure to grabthe best crafting perks forFallout 76so you get the most value out of Radstag Hides.
Lastly, before you go shooting any Radstags, be very careful not to kill anyObservant Albino Radstags. If you follow them, they’ll lead you to some hidden goodies like stashes and camp sites. However, they may also lead you to legendary mutants, so be careful and don’t stick too close to them.
