The world of anime is full to the brim with amazing battles, brilliant worlds, and awe-inspiring stories. Of course, the characters present in this amazing medium are notable in their own right, with both their personalities and their designs being absolutely striking in the best examples of the medium. In fact, some of the most popular anime attain this fame mainly due to the allure of their amazing characters.

Villains in anime are especially notable in this regard, with their performances being the best part of their respective shows when done right. Of course, not all anime villains have airtight logic. In fact, despite their capacity for truly horrific schemes, some of these characters can be downright stupid. Keeping this in mind, here are some of the most prominent anime villains who are truly evil, yet hilariously incompetent at what they do.
8Itachi Uchiha — Naruto
There was a time whenItachi was one of the most despicable charactersinNaruto. However, his true intentions were revealed after Itachi lost his life at the hands of Sasuke. His sacrificial nature has since turned him into one of the most beloved characters in the series.
However, it doesn’t take long to uncover just how flawed Itachi’s plan really is. His attempts to make Sasuke the protector of Konoha had the entirely opposite effect, with his brother swearing revenge against the Leaf Village. Given how boneheaded his actions were, it’s no surprise that Itachi’s efforts were ultimately for naught.

7Emperor Pilaf — Dragon Ball
While Emperor Pilaf might be reduced to nothing more than comedic relief in the later seasons ofDragon Ball, there was a time when this Emperor was a genuine threat. At the height of his power, he could have ended the life of the heroes without so much as a second thought.

Thankfully, the gang managed to evade his attempt to kill them with a rather timely transformation, withthis idiotic villain becoming one of the worst antagonists in the seriesout of sheer incompetence. It’s fitting to see this dumb villain become a forgettable character in the show.
6Aizen Sosuke — Bleach
Aizen is one of the best villains inBleach… which is quite indicative of how low the standards of this series could be. That’s not to say that Aizen wasn’t a great antagonist — if anything, his reveal as the big bad was one of the most exciting moments in the show.
However, a string of poor choices lead to him losing all the power he had beforebeing absolutely obliterated by an overpowered Ichigo. It’s easily one of the most disappointing ways a villain has been done away with in shonen history.

5Elder Toguro — Yu Yu Hakusho
Yu Yu Hakushois a legendary anime with its fair share of iconic characters. This applied to the villains too, who were unforgettable during the Dark Tournament — an arc that most fans consider to be the best in the series.
However, out of all the villains shown here, the one figure that didn’t really cut an impressive figure was the Elder Toguro brother. Not only was his strength minuscule in comparison to his brother, but he was so stupid that even Kuwabara was able to outsmart and defeat this villain. Watching him get absolutely annihilated by his brother was satisfying…although he did come back from the brink of death in the next arc.

4Shou Tucker — Fullmetal Alchemist
Fullmetal Alchemistis one of the greatest shonen series of all time, with each character in this show being memorable in their own right. Unfortunately,in the case of Shou Tucker, his reason for being iconic is quite twisted — he was an Alchemist who sacrificed his own family to further his ridiculous research.
Learning that he fused his adorable daughter Nina and the dog into an unholy Chimera is one of the most shocking moments in the series. It’s mind-boggling as to why Tucker never even thought of the ramifications his illegal Alchemy could lead to.

3Eren Yeager — Attack On Titan
There was a time when Eren Yeager was just an impressionable child who had a lot to learn about the ways of the world. That time has long passed, and the inheritor of the Attack Titan’s powers has transformed into one of the most horrid villains in the entire show.

Givenhow mysterious his plans are, it seems to fans that Eren has no idea of the ramifications of his actions and is just following the visions shown by the Founding Titan. Until the anime elaborates on his motives, it will be hard to convince anyone that Eren is following a carefully thought-out plan.
2Nobuyuki Sugou — Sword Art Online
Sword Art Onlineis no stranger to antagonists who are simply bad for the sake of being bad. No other villain serves as a better example of this type of character writing than Nobuyuki Sugou, the villain in the first season ofSword Art Online.
His perverted actions and ridiculous plan make him an easy character to hate right from the start. The fact that most of his motivations are completely ridiculous makes him an even more loathsome character.

1Jogo (Jujutsu Kaisen)
Jujutsu Kaisenis one of the newest anime to take the world by storm. MAPPA’s quality animation, coupled with the anime’s exciting introduction to the world of sorcery, has turned this show into an absolute masterpiece.
The villains of the show are also engaging, although there are some duds here. Jogo is a great example of this: a headstrong villain who is a bit too sure about his powers. Watching him get humbled by Gojo is a satisfying moment that made him understand just how out of his depth he was against one of the most powerful Jujutsu Sorcerers of all time.
