The incident occurred during amultiplayer session ofElden Ring, where players can invade each other’s games and fight to the death. Reddit user VarangianBabe uploaded a video on theElden Ringsubreddit, which shows the entire encounter. The user is standing on a building’s roof when they’re invaded by a player who goes by the suspicious name “Glitch Tester.” VarangianBabe approaches the invader and uses the wave gesture to signal them but still stays at a safe distance.
However, the opponent ignores the host and their waving and swings their sword in empty space multiple times. Suddenly, the invader performs a devastating attack that looks very similar to the Corpse Piler skill fromElden Ring. Shockingly, it connects, despite the massive gap between the two players, and the host falls off the building and dies gruesomely. Some players have suggested that the glitch may be related to the game’s coding, as there have been reports of other glitches andbugs inElden Ringthat have caused similar issues.
Regardless of its origins, the glitch has sparked adebate amongElden Ringplayersabout the fairness and ethics of using exploits in multiplayer games. While some argue that it’s simply a part of the game and that players should be free to use any means necessary to win, others believe that it ruins the integrity of online gaming and takes away from the thrill of a fair fight.
