WhenDragon Ball Z: Kakarotwas announced, it was met with an even mix of both excitement and reservation from fans. The story ofDragon Ball Zhad been adapted countless times before, but this time things seemed a bit different. Sure enough, the game was a huge success and is the best recreation of the show in video game form to date, but its post launch support has admittedly been somewhat lacking. Bandai Namco Entertainment and CyberConnect2 are leaving fans hanging by not keeping fans up to date about the game’s DLC and what its future will look like moving forward.
For the uninitiated,Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotinitially marketed its season pass as containing two original story episodes and one new story arc, but this was later revealed to be somewhat misleading, as the nomenclature changed to two boss battle episodes instead. This, along with the lack of information given to fans and the infrequency at which what little information there is, does come has put players in a rather strange predicament. Ultimately, fans of the series need more information on what is going on with the game and its upcoming DLCs, something that Bandai Namco will hopefully provide soon.

Everything We Know About DBZ: Kakarot’s DLC
All of that said, there are some things about the season pass which have been revealed. As was previously stated, the original story episodes have been renamed as boss battle episodes, and this gives a clue as to what they might entail. The first episode has been confirmed already to feature training with Whis, a Super Saiyan God form for both Goku and Vegeta, and end in a boss fight with Beerus.Beerus' boss fight will be incredibly tough, which should come as a breath of fresh air to those seeking more of a challenge out ofDBZ: Kakarot.
RegardingDragon Ball Z: KakarotDLC 2, it seems most likely that this boss battle episode will focus on Golden Frieza and the events ofResurrection F. Of course, nothing is certain at this point, but that seems like the next logical step following Beerus. The DLC will probably follow a similar pattern, beginning with training with Whis again, unlocking theSuper Saiyan Blue form inDBZ: Kakarot, and then battling with Golden Frieza. This still leaves the question of what the new story arc will be about, however.
It seems thatDragon Ball Z: Kakarotwill never get a Universe 6 DLC, meaning the continuation ofDragon Ball Super’s storyline is unlikely at best. There is, however, acase for a Broly DLC inDBZ: Kakarot, as a some datamined dummy text in the game reveals a dialogue that pertains directly to theDragon Ball Zmovie,Broly - Second Coming. Astute fans will note that this refers to theDBZversion of Broly, not hisSuperincarnation, but it is possible that the two stories will be combined in some way or told separately through use of the time machine.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Season Pass Information Drought
There are a couple of issues with the way that Bandai Namco and CyberConnect2 have handled the season pass so far. For starters, there was an extended period of time, several months actually, that many players owned the season pass but had no idea what it would include aside from the loose terminology of two original story episodes and one new story arc. When theoriginal story episodes were rebranded as boss battle episodes, it added insult to injury, as the prospect of some newDBZcontent perhaps revolving around Bonyu is much more enticing than a single boss battle.

Besides the changes made to the season pass, the information that has been revealed is being mostly well received. Many fans are excited for the chance tounlock Super Saiyan God, especially for Vegetawho doesn’t normally show the form until much later intoDragon Ball Super, and a challenging boss fight with Beerus is just what the game needs to reinvigorate its player base. That said, the issue that most fans have is with the information that hasn’t been revealed, and how it is slowly trickling out to fans in a somewhat frustrating way.
Since the first DLC was officially announced back in March, it has boasted nothing but a “Spring 2020” release date. Numerous bits of screenshots and new information have surfaced since then, but not once has a solid release date been given. This has been understandably vexing for those following the DLC closely, asSpring is already halfway over. While this does mean the DLC should be arriving quite soon, it is still odd that no release date has been given. Furthermore, leaked DLC information has correctly predicted everything that Bandai Namco has officially announced several days before it announced it.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC Leaks and Confusion
Leaks are always going to happen, and having sources like Dragon Ball Hype and Ken Xyro that are credible and accurate 99% of the time is a blessing. That said, when information about the DLC is revealed via a leak moments days or sometimes weeks before it is officially announced, it can take the punch out of the official announcement. This problem is exacerbated by the general confusion regarding the wording used inDBZ: Kakarot’s DLC, which has caused many to postulate about potential original content or whetherSuper Saiyan God will be a separate characteror a new form.
Of course, Bandai Namco has the right to reveal whatever information it wants at whatever pace it sees fit, but it is important that it picks up the pace somewhat before fans lose interest. A month or two ago, it seemed like hype around the game was at an all time high as fans were finishing up the base game and hungry for more, but now many have moved on to any of the otherfantastic releases happening in 2020. A substantial information drop would do wonders to get fans to engage with the game again.
