Amidst rumors thatDevil May Cry 5is in development, Capcom announced that it is bringing theDevil May Cry HD Collectionto PC and current-gen consoles. This new collection is basically the same as the one that released for last generation consoles, bringing together the first three games in the series with some minor upgrades. However, we now know how the new collection is slightly better than the one that came before it.

According to Capcom, the version ofDevil May Cry HD Collectionfor PC, PS4, and Xbox One will have run at 60 frames per second in 1080p resolution. This is an upgrade from the 2012 release, which ran at 60fps in just 720p resolution. While this upgrade will undoubtedly be appreciated by fans, some may be disappointed to learn that the game will not support 4K resolution visuals.

It’s somewhat surprising that Capcom didn’t add 4K support forDevil May Cry HD Collectionto sweeten the pot. After all, both the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X are now on the market, and both can support a version of 4K graphics. Adding 4K resolution could also have been enough to convince some fans that already haveDevil May Cry HD Collectionto buy the game again on new-gen consoles.

It’s possible Capcom didn’t want to put too much effort intobringingDevil May Cry HD Collectionto current-generation consoles, as doing so may have forced the company to raise its price. As it stands, fans will be able to buyDevil May Cry HD Collectionat a mere $30 when it launches in 2018, which comes out to about $10 per game. And while it’s true thatDevil May Cry 2was mostly a disappointment, that’s still two critically-acclaimed action games for a relatively low price.

Perhaps Capcom isn’t so much concerned with providing as visually impressive of an experience as possible, but rather just makingDevil May Cryfresh in the minds of players in anticipation of theDevil May Cry 5launch. While itwasn’t announced at PlayStation Experienceas previously rumored, there’s still some evidence that suggestsDevil May Cry 5is indeed in development, and some fans may be more likely to pick it up if they have a chance to play through the first four games in the series first.

Whether or notDevil May Cry 5will ever see the light of day remains to be seen. In the meantime, fans can look forward to revisiting the original trilogy next year.

Devil May Cry HD Collectionwill launch on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on June 01, 2025. The game is already available on PS3 and Xbox 360.
