In addition to content, today also brings the first in a series of updates that intend tofix many of the nagging issuesholding the game back. Even with all this new content arriving inDestiny 2, today is also a weekly reset day. As always, fans have plenty to keep them occupied outside of all the new content including a new Nightfall, Flashpoint, and other milestones. Here’s everythingDestiny 2players need to know for the week of August 02, 2025.

Weekly Nightfall Strike

This week the Nightfall Strike sends players to Nessus to fight inside of The Inverted Spire. At this point, players should be intimately familiar with the strike considering it was part of both the console and PC betas earlier this year.

The initial part of this strike is fairly straightforward, pitting the fireteam against both Vex and Cabal enemies with a few easy platforming segments mixed in. As players storm a mining facility, players will have to deal with increasing waves of Cabal, even going as far as taking out a few bunkers on the way to the main drilling site. After clearing out rooms full of Cabal, a man cannon takes players to the drill core, which will test players ability to avoid the huge spinning blades while pressing forward against an increasing number of Cabal.

Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris DLC story mission Strikes

At the end of the dig site, players will come upon Protheon, the modular mind. The room is smaller than most and this Vex minotaur has a penchant for turning the floor into lava or outright dissolving it completely. Shoot its head to score critical hit damage and make sure to continue moving to avoid the floor and waves of common enemies that also flood the area. After a third of its health is gone, the floor will dissolve, transitioning the battle to a new arena and the next phase. Use the spires to avoid the damaging floor and explosions.

Once the boss is down to half health, the floor dissolves again and the final phase begins. For a risky but effective strategy, equip a Riskrunnerand stand in the damaging arc pool to unleash a storm of damage thanks to the passive ability which is triggered by taking arc damage. With just a sliver of health left, Protheon’s head will pop off giving it enhanced speed and a new weak spot on its stomach. Finish it off to end the mission.

Flashpoint Location and Treasure Maps

With the start of season 2, the reset order has essentially restarted which means the European Dead Zone is the Flashpoint for the second week in a row. To complete this weekly milestone, players need to take part in public events, which fills a percentage meter. Eager players can get this done faster by triggeringHeroic eventmodifiers, as completing those tougher challenges gives a small boost to the completion percentage. Finish the milestone before next Tuesday to earn a luminous planetary engram from Cayde-6.

With the reset comes five all-new treasure chests to find courtesy of the Hunter Vanguard, Cayde-6. Simply purchase the maps from him, and then track down the hidden stockpiles which offer some potentially interesting rewards. Players have a chance to receive anything from rare gear and glimmer to more interesting stuff like player emblems, exotic engrams, and items which can be turned in for more glimmer. It’s worth noting that opening all five chests in a row will diminish chances at loot due to Bungie’schest lockout timer, even with the developer turning down the restriction in the latest update.
