According to David Pakman, his 30-day ban comes as a result of hate reporting on Twitch from his Kyle Rittenhouse trial coverage. Viewers and streamers on the platform alike are familiar withhate raids on Twitchthat have affected several content creators and hate reporting has affected several of them as well. Hate reporting isn’t limited to Twitch as various online platforms offer a reporting system that users occasionally abuse.
Although David Pakman admits that some of the evidence shown during the Kyle Rittenhouse trial was graphic in nature, he accused Twitch of inconsistent enforcement of its terms and conditions by banning him for 30 days over the content of the trial. “Meanwhile, gory and sexual content in video games continues to be poured into the platform nonstop,” said Pakman in response to his 30-day Twitch ban. Several Pakman fans defended his stance, while others pointed out that some studies suggest there’s no link between real-life violence andsimulated violence in video games.
The David Pakman show isn’t limited to TV, Radio, and Twitch, as the host also typically posts on-demand video content to hisYouTubechannel. Like many other YouTubers, Pakman has been impacted by false claims on YouTube as well, while most of his content remains unaffected. Similar to other online political commentators, David Pakman also has a website that offers a subscription payment to help support his messaging.
Beyond discussing the recent Kyle Rittenhouse trial, David Pakman has also gone on the record on his show to discuss the ongoing pandemic, government spending bills, and results of elections. Pakman hasn’t been in the Twitch political commentary sphere for as long asstreamers like Hasan Piker, but this earlyTwitchban may not bode well for his future on the platform.
