Battlefield 5’sFirestorm battle royale modehas only been available for a couple of days now, but it’s proven popular with fans. Twitch viewership forBattlefield 5has been on the rise since the introduction of Firestorm, and it could very well be what gives the under-performing FPS a new lease on life. To capitalize on this, DICE will no doubt be looking to support Firestorm with regular content updates, which will include the introduction of a Duos mode.
At launch,Battlefield 5’s Firestorm battle royale mode only supports solo and squads, meaning players either play by themselves or with three other people. Duos is a popular mode in battle royale games, and so it’s not surprising that DICE is looking to add it toBattlefield 5’s Firestorm. However,Battlefield 5Firestorm Duos will come with a catch that may disappoint those looking forward to its introduction.
According to DICE, Duos will be coming toBattlefield 5Firestorm as Duo Play at some point in April. However, the catch is that it will only be available inBattlefield 5Firestorm for a “limited time,” so it doesn’t appear to be a permanent addition to the battle royale mode.
This revelation will likely be disappointing to those that prefer to play battle royale games in Duos, but perhaps DICE will end up making the mode permanent. After all, if Duos proves popular with fans, there doesn’t seem to be any reason to remove it from the game. If anything, DICE should work to add more options to Firestorm to broaden its appeal.
After all,Battlefield 5didn’t meet sales expectations, and Firestorm seems like its shot at making up for that. So far the mode has proven popular, but as we’ve seen with other battle royales, DICE will have to keep supporting Firestorm with regular content updates if it hopes to maintain and grow its audience. Adding a popular feature like Duos only to remove it later seems like it will rub fans the wrong way, and potentially turn them off from the game.
Regardless, those looking forward to playingBattlefield 5Firestorm duos will have a chance to do so at an undetermined point in April.
