James Cameron and 20th Century Fox releasedAvatarway back in 2009, and the franchise is expanding beyond movies while the sequels are made. A newAvatarMMORPG calledAvatar: Reckoninghas officially been announced, and it’s coming to Android and iOS.
Avatarfans will be able to customize their own Na’vi inAvatar: Reckoningand explore the world of Pandora. Just like any other MMORPG,Avatar: Reckoningplayers will have to level up their Avatars to progress to difficult areas, and some aspects such as difficult boss encounters and PvP will require the player to group up with others to prevail. In addition to characters thatAvatarfans may recognize inAvatar: Reckoning, the mobile MMORPG will also include new Na’vi clans to learn about.

There are both solo story missions and cooperative ones inAvatar: Reckoning, allowing much of the game to be played with a teammate. The MMORPG fittingly includes touchscreen combat, but the studio behind the mobile game has yet to confirm any combat details or roles that players will have to fill to create synergy within a party. The combat will likely be similar to other mobile MMORPGs such asPocket Legends,Black Desert, orRuneScape. However, it hasn’t been confirmed ifAvatar: Reckoningwill have classes likeWorld of Warcraft,New World, orThe Elder Scrolls Online.
TheAvatar: Reckoningscreenshot shared by Archosaur Games shows a Na’vi in camo standing on a Pandoran vista and looking over the vast landscape of the planet. The Na’vi carries an assault rifle, which is typically wielded by humans in theAvataruniverse.
Archosaur Games is the same team that createdDragon Raja,Naval Creed,Novoland: The Castle in the Sky, andWorld of Kings. The mobile MMORPG is being produced byTencent, Lightstorm Entertainment, and Disney, which shows that there are a lot of minds involved in the creation ofAvatar: Reckoning.
Archosaur Games has confirmed thatAvatar: Reckoningis releasing later this year, but it hasn’t stated exactly when fans of the 2009 film will be able to play the new MMORPG. Contrary to the mobileAvatar: Reckoning, Ubisoft is working on an open-worldAvataradventure game for consoles calledAvatar: Frontiers of Pandorathat’s also expected to release later this year.Avatar 2is expected to release towards the end of 2022, which may suggest that the upcoming mobileAvatarMMORPG is a complimentary piece for the sequel.
