Rovio, the well known mobile developer behind the incredibly successfulAngry Birdsseries, has released its latest mobile gaming creation,Battle Bay. According to theAngry Birdsdeveloper,Battle Bayis a “real-time multiplayer battle arena in your pocket.”
The new mobile MOBA game will task players with choosing a ship, enhancing it with weapons, armor, items, and abilities, and send them forth across the raging seas to take on their enemies. As the below trailer shows, the game looks every bit like what gamers would expect from the developer that’s known for colorful, creative worlds.

According toRovio,Battle Baywill feature different styles of ships that will allow gamers to fit their play style. Some ships, like the Enforcer, is perfect for players who prefer to deal damage and move around quickly. The Defender, on the other hand, is more of a floating tank that can withstand tons of hits and keep on moving.
As MOBAs continue to grow in popularity, and as competitive games expands farther into mobile gaming, it’s not surprising to see a developer like Rovio jump into that scene. Considering the success of games likeClash of ClansandClash Royale, there will only be more competition entering the space.
Battle Bayis available for both iOS and Android devices, and is so far tracking strong reviews in both the App Store and Play Store. With the popularity ofBattle Bayalready growing, it likely won’t be long before smaller app developers release appendage apps for the game, and teams start forming to take on the leaderboards.
While Rovio has continued to release at least one new title each year, it’s last major release wasAngry Birds 2, which launched in 2015 and quickly grew toover 10 million downloads.Battle Bayhas already cleared the one million mark on the Google Play Store, and is likely doing just as well or better on the iOS App Store.
Fans of theAngry Birdsgames should be aware that whileBattle Baydoesn’t include any upset fowl, the developer hasn’t forgotten its roots. At least threeAngry Birdsrelated titles are set to release this year.
