Though the global release of the Radeon RX 7900 GRE fell on the Year of the Dragon instead, AMD sought to capitalize on the mid-range GPU market with this new card. Starting at $549, the AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE will launch on Tuesday, February 27.According to VideoCardz, some of the aftermarket partners that will sell the Radeon RX 7900 GRE include Gigabyte, XFX, and PowerColor, with each of them offering the graphics card as a three-fan configuration that will have two 8-pin PCIe power connectors. When paired with an AMD processor such asthe Ryzen 7 7800X3D, the Radeon RX 7900 GRE can use Smart Access Memory to further boost performance in games and take some load off the CPU.

AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE Details

The arrival of the Radeon RX 7900 GRE outside of China came at a busy time for AMD, following price cuts to other RDNA 3 graphics cards, including the Radeon RX 7900 XT and 7800 XT. With theRadeon RX 7800 XT marked down to $499, the price difference between that and the RX 7900 GRE is only $50. For that $50 markup, the 7900 GRE has 25% more accelerators but has a slightly lower base clock speed of 1.8 GHz, compared to the 7800 XT’s base speed of 2.1 GHz.

The Radeon RX 7900 GRE will directly compete with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070, which saw its price cut from $599 to $549 followingthe release of the RTX 40 SUPER Seriesof graphics cards. Only time will tell how the market will respond to AMD’s latest release.
