Disgaea 7’s New Features Push the Series to New Extremes
One ofDisgaea 7’s most notable new features is its “Jumbification” system. While in combat, players can make their characters massive, oftentimes bigger than the combat area, capable of dealing out huge amounts of damage, attacking multiple enemies at once, and destroying large treasure chests.Disgaeahas always been about makingtactical RPGsas over the top as possible, and this feature is the perfect embodiment of that. The game will also add ranked online AI battles where players can program the AI of minions and have them fight other players' teams. While the series has featured network integration before, this is its first foray into true multiplayer.
The other big new feature coming toDisgaea 7: Vows of the Virtuelessis Netherworld Sightseeing. In pastDisgaeagames, players were largely locked to a hub area between combat encounters. This worked well for the series formula but also made the world of each game feel small.Disgaeacharactershave always been really fun and vibrant, and now players will be able to interact with them in explorable areas. While visiting parts of the game’s world, Hinomoto, players can chat with locals, recruit fighters, play mini-games, and enter martial arts tournaments. Lots of Features Are Returning In Disgaea 7
WhileDisgaea 7is filled with lots of new features, Fuji and Pirilika’s journey through Hinomoto will be built on the strong foundation that the series has built over the past 20 years. Like pastDisgaeatitles fromNippon Ichi Software, this new entry will feature a robust character progression system that reaches level 9,999. On top of this, the reincarnation system is returning and now includes items. Players can sacrifice a character to reincarnate them with boosted base stats at level 1, and now items can similarly be recreated as different items, giving players even more to grind. This comes alongside four new classes, adding to the roster of over 40, that will expand the capabilities of one’s party.
Disgaea 7’s story of Fuji and Pirilika’s journey through a netherworld in turmoil after the abolishment of Demon Bushido is seemingly one of the franchise’s most ambitious undertakings yet. Introducing exploration and ranked online will likely add dozens of hours to the experience for many players in a series already known for giving players hundreds of hours of content to grind through each entry.Disgaeatitles have been some of thebest anime strategy gamesover the past few decades, and this new entry seems to be pushing the franchise forward even more.
