Summary
Halodeveloper 343 Industries has shut down a recent rumor about the franchise’s future, hinting it is still in charge of the next entry in the series. The studio’s latest game,Halo Infinite, came out to a positive reception in 2021.
It’s been nearly three years since the lastHalogame came out and, being a highly popular franchise, its community has been bustling with rumors and speculation lately. Back in January, theHalo Infinitedeveloper released an official statement, denying the rumor that it was moving away from the franchise. Despite the reassurance, another version of the rumor had recently been picking up steam, which said that 343 Industries would only oversee futureHalogames but not be the main team behind their development. However, the studio has now indirectly shut down this rumor as well.

On Twitter, 343 Industries' Senior Community Manager, John Junyszek, shared his thoughts on the rumor about the developer’s reduced involvement in forthcomingHalotitles. Replying to a tweet that called out the legitimacy of the rumor, he made a resounding statement, saying “It has been - and always will be - wild out there.” As obvious, this answer basically confirms that there is no truth to the ongoing speculation regarding the role of the longtimeHalodeveloper in future games.
The Halo Rumor Has Been Shut Down Twice Now
Even before the latest take on the rumor by the 343 Industries employee, insider Jez Corden had already declared the same to be “false.” He substantiated his point by noting how theHalostudio’s ongoing hiring spreeand its sheer size suggest that its involvement is beyond simply overseeing the project. Hence, it’s safe to say that the counter-statements from the two sources effectively put this particular rumor to bed.
In the midst of all this talk, 343 Industries seems to be focused on expanding its team to build the next game in theHalolineup. A few weeks ago, the American studio hired a seasoned lead designer with a decade of experience atHalocreator Bungie. Earlier this year, another job listing from theHalo Infinitedeveloper was spotted, which interestingly revealed that the studio may beset to makeHalomultiplatform.
Luckily for fans, a sequel may not be the onlyHalotitle coming in the future, with reports ofHalo: Combat Evolvedgetting a remastered version. Similar to what’s circulating about the nextHalogame, the rumored remaster could also be released on non-Xbox platforms like PS5. Keeping in mind Microsoft’s recent decision to bring former console exclusives likeHi-Fi Rushto other platforms, the move to do the same withHalogames would fall in line.
